This was OK. The trees were as interesting as the light house. We passed it by chance and stopped off. The toilet were absolutely disgusting.

This lighthouse just south of Pescadero is visible from Hwy. 1, and it is so worth a stop to visit. It is a state park, with a visitor center staffed by friendly and knowledgeable folks. The visitor center houses the giant old lighthouse lens, with umpteen prisms of glass to reflect and project the light. It also houses many other... More

We were 1st here in 2009. So glad we came back. They have completed some of the restoration on the lighthouse. The massive 8000 lbs lens is now on display in the small, but informative "museum". The view and surrounding area is so beautiful. You might even be lucky enough to spot a couple of migrating whales. Please take the... More

This is one of my favorite lighthouses. The views are spectacular. Haven't stayed at the hostel but my sisters and I are planning a trip there soon. The housekeeper was kind enough to show us some of the rooms when my husband and I were there for a day trip. There are many beaches nearby and the little town of... More

We spent a girls weekend at the lighthouse and got a room for the six of us in the adjacent hostel. It had bunkbeds - and there were tons of "not its" at having to sleep in a top bunk. The room was clean and we had a bathroom to ourselves. There is also a "living room" in each set... More

We booked a single room a year in advance. They get sold out pretty fast. Any why not - the best location ever; right on the Pacific ocean by a lighthouse, just off HWY-1 !! Can't get any better than that. Mike, the front desk clerk is a rock-star. He was very welcoming and very nice. The overall ambiance was... More

My wife and I stopped by the lighthouse earlier this week. There is a plan to restore this lighthouse, and there is a way to leave donations at the site. There are rooms available through International Hostel. We walked out to the end of the walkway overlooking the point. There were seals and sea lions swimming in the surf. We... More

Nice place to stop for a short break and enjoy nature and the environment. For us there were at least more seals to see than at Pier 39 in San Francisco. At the lighthouse there is a small and freely accessible museum about the history of the lighthouse.

The guide said "that is the password to see our facility." WOW! It was so true. Saw some whales and our ranger in the building that house the lighting was so kind and knowable. He pointed out the whale spouts and showed us the lens. Amazing!

This is an easily accessible and free lighthouse with great views of the Pacific. It definitely needs some maintenance (lots of rust and faded paint) but plans are in the works for that. There's a small gift shop in one building and an interpretive center with the original lens on display with a ranger present for asking questions. No access... More
