Tasting room has great Old West themed decor and very nice, friendly pourers, but the crowd was not for me. They offer free tastings of decent wine which attracts rather loud, boisterous people. It was much more crowded than the other wineries we visited - again, due to the free tastings. If this is your thing, hey, more power to... More

this place was cool, staff was so helpful and enthusiastic. Location was average but easy to get to. I bought a nice zin. They help us with restaurants recommendations, other wineries and were enjoying themselves. I would go again, it was enjoyable!

Toby has been around a while. In the 90's I recall how the ladies would talk fondly of him at the Art & Wine festivals in town, having the Tobin James embroidered star stuck on their jeans. Pretty good wine, and more of a bargain when you buy a pack of bottles. The tasting room is very large, expanded from... More

Party city - which might be great if you like it. The tasting is free but the room is crowded and noisy. It seemed like an assembly line. The server poured quickly and went on to the next guest. The wines were okay for the price. We had been tasting $30 - $50 wines earlier in the day, so Tobin's... More

This is one of the only places in Paso Robles to still offer free tastings. Consequently, their tasting room can be a mob scene (but the staff are cool) so choose your day and time wisely. On the plus side, they have a very consistent style and if you like one of their reds you'll probably like them all. On... More

We attended their end-of-summer bash and had the usual great time! Lots of servers to cater to you, great music and good food.

Free tasting is rare now days. We actually visited here because we stayed in the Tobin James room at Paso Robles inn. Easy access off freeway. Large and busy tasting room. They also serve food in an adjacent café. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff. Mostly Reds for wine. A couple whites. We bought the Chardonnay as it was one of... More

We visited them on a Wednesday afternoon and they were busy. To their credit, they had sufficient staff to handle everyone. (Personally, I would not attempt to visit them on a Saturday.) The wines were good - I found nothing outstanding. Plus I know of many places where you get get better quality wines at lower prices. Tobin James is... More
