Caparone is a father and son venture with a very simple premise - make good wine, offer it at a decent price, and it will sell itself. Tastings are complimentary and all wines are $14. Owners are proud of not doing much marketing; the tasting room could not be simpler. If you are looking for very good reds for $14, check this out. One of the oldest wineries in the Paso region. My ratings are not for the wines, which seem to be as good as you'll find, but for the overall experience. More

Unless you've tasted unfiltered reds before, you won't know the delightfulness of the Caparone vintages. And if you can get a tour of some of the venerable cars the owner collects, your experience will be unequalled. Go Caparone. More

Out of the way older winery in a small building. Had five reds for tasting. I bought a merlot and a cabernet. All were priced at $14.00. Tasting was complimentary if not buying. Worth a visit. More

Caparone Winery is owned and operated by one of the families that started the wine business in the Paso Robles area so in some sense a visit to them is like stepping back in time.
