Quite the opposite. Not the posh brands and botox jetset with dito cars, but mostly retired tourists looking for a quiet, affordable drink or meal. Or artwork.

Although there are many new businesses and restaurants now in downtown Palm Springs, this area still does not offer all the amenities of down valley in Palm Desert. It is continually changing and hopefully when the 4 new hotels are completed it will have more to offer to the tourist who wants to stay in Palm Springs rather than Palm... More

Great area for lots of good restaurants, shops, people watching with a cool vibe. This is the happening area of Palm Springs and is bustling with activity but not so crowded you don't want to be part of the group. Lulu is a must especially for Happy Hour

Was here in Palm Springs for a month and glad to be able to walk to all kinds of great shopping, boutiques, restaurants, bars and nightlife. Lovely patio and outdoor dining available. Some are hidden gems, so don't be afraid to walk in. Sammy G's was a favorite for music, as well as Las Casuela's.

The southern end of Palm Canyon Drive is more touristy in nature with t-shirt shops and the like, while the northern end of Palm Canyon Drive offers many home furnishing stores, some with designer relics from Eames and Milo Baughman.... Beautiful palms line this main drag of Palm Springs. Modernist and Spanish-style architecture featured on most of the buildings. Many good restaurants along its lengrh. Unfortunately the downtown stretch is marred by cheesy stores unworthy of the setting.

Starting at roughly Via Lola and running all the way down to the intersection of Palm Canyon and Indian Canyon Drives, this stretch of road covers a good amount of territory (enough for a very vigorous walk). At the Via Lola end, more art galleries and furniture stores are located while, in the center, more restaurants, quaint shops and souvenir... More
