took part of the drive today. Lots of curves and crazy drivers . Did 1/2 of it. Great views. Then we turned around as I did not know exactly where it went. Didn't do my homework, next time. Glad we did it. Also glad I was in the front seat. We do this sort of drove in Hawaii.

A brilliant road to drive with all the twists and superb views from the top. A good road to San Diego.

Wonderful way to seethe valley from above. Curvy road with lots to look at along the way. Nice mountain views to appreciate what the desert has to offer. Fun to see the valley surrounded by snow capped mountains

About 6-7 miles along Hwy 74 (Pines to Palms Highway), you'll find a scenic lookout which offers spectacular sunsets. Also the road up to the viewpoint is fun to drive, with windy roads. In fact, some tire commercials were being filmed along this stretch. The view looks over the Palm Springs area, and extends to the Salton Sea, towards San... More

Pines to Palms is very scenic. It can also be very dangerous. There are winding roads on the way and on the way back to civilization. SR 243 is narrow and there are switchbacks. It's generally not a racetrack. Leaving Idyllwild the drive is lovely, but 74 through the mountains going south has an element of risk: people driving too... More

This is a wonderful drive which takes one from the flat desert floor up into the San Jacinto Mountains. In the Summer it allows one to escape the heat.

This road shows the diversity between the desert floor and the mountains up at 5,000 ft and higher. It has numerous quick hairpin turns (literal hairpins) and has good views down to the desert. Don't try this road if you are at all squeamish about being "on the edge". The air is usually about 30 degrees cooler than the desert... More

Beautiful rolling hills to a F1 looking raceway to the desert floor. If one starts in Temecula, it is very interesting to see the different habitats encountered throughout the drive. Excellent way to go to Palm Springs if coming from San Diego county.

the drive to Idyllwild was lovely, but the destination was a total waste of time. Idyllwild has some good PR folks and it's NOTHING like is described in any of the promo materials.
