Be sure to allow enough time to visit the whole zoo and gardens. We scheduled 3 hours and it was not enough time. Food offerings are just adequate for this child-oriented place. Love the giraffe feedings; be sure to time your visit for this fun event.

Visited with a group the following ages: 6, 8, 37, 39, 41, 67, and 70. Everyone had a great time. The Living Desert Zoo is well-designed the layout is thoughtful. Most of the main paths are shaded, which is helpful in the desert sun and heat. The animal habitats are designed to give you great views of the animals while... More

Although I'm not a big fan of traditional zoos, the living Garden is a good example of a more naturalistic and humane way of keeping and exhibitng animals and environments. The grounds also are a refuge from the bustle and bother of the nearby El Paseo shopping district. A tour "bus" is available for those who choose not to walk,... More

Spent four delightful hours exploring the various cactus gardens and local wild life exhibits. The cactus gardens are fascinating, some from different local desert zones, others focused on desert plants with medicinal properties with explanations. We skipped the African animals to walk out to the San Andreas Fault Line overlook - very interesting, lots of wild life. Many trails to... More

First, I'm not a fan of zoos; however, this zoo is different. They have only animals from desert areas. They do an amazing job and cater really well to children. We brought our grandchildren (7 and 5) and they thoroughly enjoyed it.

this is a great venue during Christmas. The park is a winter wonderland with Santa, hot chocolate and millions of lights. It was great fun on Christmas eve.

Although we have lived in the area for awhile, we really never thought of visiting this attraction. The hours in the summer are limited, desert living you know. However, in the autumn through the spring, the hours are just about all day long - 8 - 5. The temperature is also better. They have trams to ride and you can... More

Very nice "zoo" type of place. The only reason I didn't give it a 5/5 was the fact I have been to the Desert Museum in Tucson and that is a 5/5. This place is nice and well done. Reasonable price compared to some of the bigger zoos. The hummingbird gardens are great and I could spend hours there. Bring... More

My husband and I visited for a few hours and had an enjoyable time. Great place to bring kids if you have them. Saw lots of animals and tons of plant life. Did the whole place in about 4 hours (with no kids). Pay the extra $5 to feed the giraffes, it was incredible! To hear more about our trip... More

Our kids enjoyed feeding the birds (I think it cost $1/kid) and feeding the giraffes ($5/kid) and I think both were reasonably priced. Exhibits were well labelled and the animals looked healthy.
