This facility offers African desert and American Southwest desert animals as well as an extensive display of desert plants. We were most impressed by the giraffe enclosure - there are great photo opportunities here. Recommend winter visits to see the most animal activity. Over 1200 acres are available here but the walk is very comfortable with many shaded areas. The... More

The park is amazing and there is so much to see and do. The animals were well taken care of and the park has so many helpers that are friendly and willing to offer suggestions and information regarding then animals and habitats. Wear comfortable shoes lots of walking.

Combines a zoo with a unique desert hike. There are some African animals, but for the most part, it is flora and fauna native to the desert of the southwestern US.

Lovely place to visit. The volunteer staff are very friendly and full of information and the place is well kept. The walk was very easy and loved that the floral/fauna had signs with names on it.

My family of four went here while vacationing in Palm Desert. Great zoo and some interesting plants and vegetation. Our entire family enjoyed it!

We have been to the Living Desert a number of times. Always interested in the various animals. Zoo docents very helpful. A real variety of animals displayed.. Check out the complex model train display.

The highlight of the Living Desert is not necessarily the animals, as most can be found in any other zoo setting. What makes the day here perfect is the weather! (Go when its warm but not HOT and there's a breeze) That way your day doubles as an amazing stroll -- Bonus: once inside you have access to miles of... More

We are hikers who love beautiful uncrowded places. The Living Desert Hike is beautiful and so conveniently located! An early start is best! The trails are well marked and no signs of mega mansions until the top of the mountain which offers a great view of the valley. Its fun to walk through the zoo on your way to the... More

Great place to bring the family. The gardens are fantastic and the zoo part is really neat. There is even something for the model railroader a giant G scale display.

We went on the guided tour with our Conference group. We hit the highlights of the Living Desert and learned a lot. The animals are quite interesting. I recommend the tour for a fun experience. The park is quite large and there is lots to see.
