Interesting zoo for the size of community, good variety of animals and the beautiful desert gardens are a bonus. It's not too large so is an easy walk, can be done in 3 hours or so. The one downside is that some of the enclosures seemed quite small. Entry is reasonably priced. For Canadians, they accept CAA for a discount.

Lots to see and lots of walking. Be sure to wear a hat and light clothing, and also bring lots of water to stay hydrated. We opted not to use the shuttle bus and walked around instead. It was a beautiful walk about, but as the day got hotter, we stopped more frequently in the shady areas to cool off.... More

They've worked hard to make this a great zoo. As you walk, you can visit various terrains with good explanations of the areas. And the animals are quite unique - I've never seen some of them - such as the sand cat. Even with loads of buses of children, we didn't feel crowded - there's a lot to see and... More

In addition to plants, there are many species of animals and an employee shows snakes and small animals up close

The zoo is a bit expensive for a family and has limited animals to see. The main star of the zoo in fact isnt the animals, but the desert setting. That said, there are many ways in the area to explore the desert at less cost.

This was my second visit to the Living Desert - the first time I enjoyed it immensely, this time not so much. I think this was mainly down to two factors - firstly, if was very hot (not their fault, of course!) so a lot of the animals were either asleep or in their dens. There were still a fair... More

small but interesting - something to do when you've had it with the heat - go early morning (even the animals disappear during the hot part of the day)

The animal and plant exhibits here are truly outstanding and this is a place you must visit on a trip to the Palm Springs area. The animal hospital tour is especially interesting and they perform quite a service.

We've been here a number of times, and when it is hot, it can be a miserable experience. Also, there are few animals visible during really hot weather.

Fun place to go with the kids if it's not too hot. Lots of walking so getting the wristband for the golfcart is a good idea
