Our vrbo host gave us tickets. Although we had been there years before we still found it a great attraction. Very few people were there mid week. The place is well run, clean and a great array of animals and pleasant garden areas. Must sees are the giraffes, jaguars, and mountain sheep. Volunteers are very friendly.

I enjoyed visiting the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. I was with an elderly aunt and uncle so chose to purchase the all day tram ticket and was delighted we had done this. The staff was particularly helpful in offering suggestions for the "must see" venues. Everyone was extremely courteous and polite, the animals were intriguing and we were particularly... More

If you are looking for an outdoor activity with the kids, take them to the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. In addition to the extensive display of desert flora, there are many animals to grab your attention. I was fortunate that on my visit the Mexican Wolf, Jaguar, and several bighorn sheep (go there around 10:30 am for feeding) were... More

Living Desert Zoo is a nice walk in the desert with some animals that are also found in other deserts of the world. Very Clean and well kept. Zoo also takes care of injured animals as well.

The last evening in the Palm Springs area, I visited the Wildlights show at the Living Desert Zoo. Advertised at featuring a million lights, it lived up to its advertisement. As a bonus, I got to pet a snake, an unbelievable experience for anyone who knows me - I don't like snakes, but this one was quite pretty. I enjoyed... More

I went to the living desert zoo today with my family. I was mostly disappointed because most of the animals were sleeping. Zzzzz, it made for a fairly boring trip. I don't recommend you go around noon time, as it seems to be their sleeping time :( I can see how it would be better if more animals were awake.... More

Took my 2 year old to the zoo and bright lights and he loved both. Zoo is very spread out so bring a stroller or prepare to walk a lot. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Probably my sons favorite thing to do in Palm Desert.

As a member of the LA ZOO, I knew I would get a discount, but I was so impressed with the whole place, I became a member - it was $60 for a year unlimited admission - tax-deductible since it's a non-profit.... The layout is organized, but interesting, with always something to see...it is half gardens, dedicated to preserving the... More

For anyone visiting the Palm Springs area, this should be on their list of sites to visit. A great display of desert flora and animals, all well marked and described. Should definitely plan to spend a few hours there...and for families with youngsters, there is a carousel and rest area with food and shade.

The living desert is great place anytime of year.Go early in the day and go to all the shows. Christmas is also a great time to go. The lights are great and the train display is the greatest. We have been members for over 20 years. In fact this is our 20th anniversary of being members.
