This truly is a Desert Gem and all of California should be proud of this wonderful habitat for the wild, and exotic animals, birds, and creatures of all kinds. This does not feel like your typical "Zoo" where profit comes before animals' comfort, and health. The zoo animals and all of their life forces are top priority, and look like... More

We went to the Living Desert while vacation nearby in Indio, CA, expecting to maybe here for a couple of hours if that - and ended up spending the entire day here! What a fascinating place to learn about the desert and it's inhabitants, plants etc. I absolutely loved the model train display - especially the dinosaur holding the lamb-... More

We had a wonderful visit- enjoying the beautiful grounds as well as a variety of animals and bird exhibits. The hospital has a little learning center as well as viewing windows for animal procedures. This is a very doable zoo in a day.

Everything was great... as expected. If it is a hot day I would recommend going there in the morning so the animals are more active. This had been suggested to us and we appreciated the recommendation.

Who expected this in the middle of all that sand? We had a really good time. Arrive early, the animals are more active and you will be too. The staff was very friendly and informative. They even had ice water available to refill for you throughout the park. The selection of animals is impressive and the grounds are very nice.... More

We got there early to see as many animals before they went into their dens and hid from the days heat. Also being there during the week, it was less busy. We were lucky to see the new jaguar cubs and young giraffe. There is no guarantee that you will see any animals as my first trip there years ago,... More

Tram gave us an overview of entire facility and we could jump on and off at our leisure. $6 charge for tram in addition to entry fee, well worth it. Volunteers at this facility are excellent, very friendly and knowledgeable. Besides the abundance of animals there is a lot of desert plant life worth seeing and an amazing miniature train... More

visited here before and am always impressed by the park. The staff are friendly and chatty. The model train is fabulous and the petting zoo is great for kids.

There were not many animals out and maybe that was because of the heat. The employees that worked at this zoo went out of their way to make sure we were having a good time.
