We live just an hours drive from this wonderful Zoo/Natural Park area, and yet have never been there before. My 18 month old granddaughter came to visit from out of state. So, we thought we'd go check it out. What a delight! So beautiful and well kept. They have an amazing huge electric train set up and running. The train... More

Quality of zoo was good, we liked the metal statues of some of the animals. Great to have a hike to the San Andreas fault exhibit, it gave us a chance to see more of nature, and so close to the city. Loved the North American desert plant exhibits, and the aviary was fun as well. Not sure about the... More

Great area to visit with lots to see and do. Take the tram so you can go from area to area without too much walking. The jaguar mother and two cubs is a must see as is the hospital. Bighorn sheep are awesome. This is must see if visiting the Palm Springs area.

The living zoo has the potential to be a nice zoo. The grounds plants are beautiful. The paths are well maintained and marked. The staff were courteous. HOWEVER - the enclosures are WAY TOO SMALL. The animals are kept in enclosures that are barren and inadequate. We found it disturbing to see the sad look in the eyes of wild... More

we took our daughter and grand daughter there for the afternoon. The tram was the highlight. Animals were all hidden, except for the largest like camels and giraffes. They weren't even moving. Few colorful flowers. Everything looked, dead and dry. Staff were pleasant. We were nearly the only people in the park so got a lot of attention. I wouldn't go... More

we loved the zoo; and especially the giraffe feeding -- make a point of being there for it! we looked at the map and cherry picked the stuff we wanted to see -- i chose the butterfly enclosure - even though the rest of the family didn't want to bother - they all ended up really impressed!

I live nearby and visit the Living Desert often. It is a delightful place. I love to just walk around in the fresh air surrounded by the desert beauty. It is always peaceful and tranquil. And then, of course, there are the beautiful animals. It is so much fun to watch them and a great opportunity to see so many... More

The Living Desert is a beautiful place to visit. The grounds are well kept and the animals well cared for. My grandson's favorite part is the huge model railroad exhibit - each area symbolic and decorated as a different part of the US. During the holodays, the Wild Lights exhibit, held at night is awesome. Complete with hot chocolate and... More

The Living Desert is a special place. Beautiful environment to see animals close up and personal. Never too crowded and located in a peaceful setting. I especially love the large cats! Kids love it too with a merry go round and lots of room to roam and explore. A must see if you are in the desert area.

Being an Islander, this was the most spectacular 2+ hours I have ever spent at a Zoo. My daughter and I enjoyed most of the exhibits, especially the hummingbirds hovering over the various cacti along the trails. Granted, it was a dry and hot day, but stop by the shops and purchase a hat, this will cool you off. We... More
