Description: Capt. Dan is a Coast Guard licensed master and American Sailing...
Capt. Dan is a Coast Guard licensed master and American Sailing Association instrutor. Sail with him for a few hours or up to several days, exploring the Channel Islands ... or take private lessons. We have two yachts, one economy and one luxury boat built in France and we are the only company offering sailing eco-tours of California's Channel Islands. Our islands are often described as the Galapagos of North American and abound in sea life from whales, to dolphins to fish that ride here on either a southern current or the northern one. Ashore, you will find a landscape mostly clear of humans and protected by the National Park Service and the Nature Conservancy. Human civilization dates back some 10,000 years here, but only a handful of caretakers live here now. Come with us and step back in history 200 years, step away from civilization.

Absolutely magical! Captain Dan is a first rate guy who provides an incredible experience on the Sancere. The dinners were magical and the scenery was amazing. We saw so much wildlife - dolphins, whales, seals, sea lions, pelicans, lot of baby seagulls, tuna crabs, flying fish and even a shark! We felt like we had a lot of say in... More

Dan was very eager to answer questions that we had about the islands, the boat, and anything else we had. Dan was a great teacher and helped to make the trip that much more fun. The boat was great and accommodated the 6 of us without any issues. The kayaking was a blast as well.

A group of four friends sailed with Captain Dan and Dennis for a friend's birthday and were blown away by our experience. Not only are the Channel Islands lovely to visit, they were made especially remarkable by Captain Dan's recounting of island history, geography, and animal life. I was in my second trimester and didn't miss a beat with swimming,... More

I booked a two hour sail with Captain Dan for myself and two teenage girls (17, 13) because my 17 year old had spent some time sailing at summer camp on a lake in Vermont and wanted to experience sailing on the Pacific. We left Oxnard Marina and set out for a short sail. Captain Dan put her to work... More

It's always great fun to introduce a sailor to my patch of ocean. There's no place quite like the Santa Barbara Channel and the Channel Islands and it makes me very happy to see the smiles that awaken with the beauty of this place. Of course, having dolphins and sea lions swimming alongside is a treat and, fortunately, not rare.... More

Sailing with Captain Dan on his boat, The Sancerre, was the perfect idea to get our family out for an entire day of fun on the water. It was a beautiful day and we saw 4 different types of dolphins on our way to Anacapa Island. We then took out the Kayaks to explore the island and found sea lions... More

Dan is a wonderful person to spend an afternoon with. His passion for sailing is infectious! He let our 14 year old daughter sail the entire trip outside the harbor. We saw whales, sea lions, dolphins and seals. The Sancerre is an immaculately maintained sailboat perfectly suited for a channel islands adventure. Don't call anyone else, I guarantee you won't... Oh to be in the same sentence with the legendary Capt. Ron sets my professional sailor heart aflutter. Now there was a man who an eyepatch with elan. And park a boat? Well, isn't that the legendary part of his vitae? Would that I could do that ....with someone else's boat. Though less colorful than CR, I'm pretty sure you... More

We could have used more wind, but that's the way it goes sometimes. Whether you're an experience sailor or just out for the ride, Capt. Dan is great to sail with. Looking forward to our next day sail.

Besides running a first-rate charter service, Capt. Dan is an instructor with the American Sailing Association. He methodically wrote eight study guides to help his fellow instructor captains review an extremely difficult ASA course on coastal navigation. His level of knowledge and experience is awesome.

Our time spent aboard the Wiley with Capt. Dan was worth every penny. His knowledge, experience, and humble approach to teaching was very much appreciated. We took they day trip as a chance to learn the basics to sailing and find out if it is something that we would like to pursue as a hobby. Short answer-yes... Long-answer- Capt. Dan... More

4 of us spent the weekend out with Captain Dan and Dennis and when we left we parted as great friends. We had wonderful experiences and Captain Dan is a great guy. We encountered some difficult conditions with some fog and some inexperienced other boaters and Captain Dan handled it all with aplomb, while keeping a fun and safe environment.... More
