Great hiking trails with spectacular views of these amazing redwood trees. Make sure you bring some drinks and food to picnic on during your walk.

This campground is first-come first-served, so get there after check-out which is 11 am. When I went it was very windy, so you may want to choose your site with more wind breakers. There are four unisex restrooms and one of them is handicapped-friendly. There is also one shower. I didn't use it so I don't know how much it... More

I think we enjoyed this drive more than Avenue of the Giants. We were able to enjoy watching a herd of elk near the Davison Road turnoff and made a stop at the Big Tree (short hike of 0.4 miles). It was such a wonder driving through these immense giants. Since it was early in the morning we were treated... More

This hike requires some planning. You must obtain a permit for access to this area. We obtained ours at the Visitor Information Center for the Redwoods in Crescent Creek. The drive to the trailhood is slow going. After roughly 7 miles of paved, narrow climbing road, you switch to gravel. Be prepared for large potholes and watch ahead to have... More

Redwoods park itself, beautiful and 10/10, lots of great hiking trails with majestic redwoods. Park is a bit out of the way but definitely worth seeing. Elk prairie opening also nice and pleasant with views of the redwood forest, ocean mists & abundant elk. Now for the campground. Over priced, $8 per bundle for a small batch of firewood is... More

The redwoods are of course stunning, and the rangers are extremely helpful and friendly. It is a very special place, and trails are well-maintained. Can't describe how beautiful and awe-inspring it is - one of those things you have to see yourself (and please do)! My only criticism is that many of the trails are poorly marked (or unmarked). This... More

The beautiful drive makes it tempting to just cruise along the peaceful road, but don't you dare miss out. Park that puppy and get out and walk. It's a whole different experience on foot, up close and personal. Words and pictures will never do it justice. Go live it, breath it, smell it. You'll be happy you did and better... More

The park ranger suggested we do James Irvine Trail to Fern Canyon and back. The trail head mentions the distance to be 4.6 miles one way. The end to end trail is about 10 miles. The walk through the Redwoods is such a cathartic experience and getting to Fern Canyon is a sweet sweet reward. This trail is a must... More

We stopped at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park to enjoy our picnic lunch and decided to take a short hike. We found the trails to be easily accessible and well marked. The Redwoods are magnificent as always. Lots of wildflowers were blooming and the ferns were in massive abundance. There is a nice little gift shop and you have got... More

Great day hike from the large redwoods down to the coast and back. Lots of photo ops. Not too much elevation for a Rocky Mountain hiker.
