If you are into the art scene, this venue is a must see. Beginning with its architecture, the building is an appealing mix of old and ultra modern. It is a small museum but with a very nice lay out that has one main exhibit room and multiple smaller exhibits throughout. Their exhibits are excellent and rotate often. It features... More

Being that the museum is just minutes from the 5, it is worth a stop for anyone, except on Mondays when they're closed. It won't take long to visit all the exhibitions since the museum is not that large. However, all the exhibits we have seen through the years have been excellent. In addition, the staff is extremely friendly and... More

Beautiful little small museum but curated beautifully. There is always a great exhibit going on as well as many small ones through museum. Not to be missed. It is the best museum with little PR.

Great small town art museum. Fantastic exhibits from local and well known artists. Easy to find, lots of parking options and close to other points of interest.

We have been to this museum half a dozen times over the years, with and without kids. The building and exhibits have grown in size and sophistication. The key is to get on line and plan your visit to coincide with an exhibit that matches your interests...the entire place will be devoted to it.

Nice building, and a few pieces of art. Hard to compare to the San Diego museum of art or all the others in the area.

I have enjoyed all he exhibits that the Museum of Art presents. Each time I stroll the halls I'm enchanted beyond belief in the quality & variety to feast. Have been attending since 1995. Even volunteered the first few years. People come from far & wide to see some of the exhibits that interest them. Expanding the square footage has... More

Different eclectic collections. A fun place to meet a friend, discuss the art and then have coffee at one of Oceanside's many cafes. Like the art world itself, the museum and its galleries evolve constantly—at least 15 different exhibitions open there each year. Admission is only $8. It's closed on Mondays and holidays.

As a local, you may want to visit the Oceanside Museum of Art as part of seeing San Diego more in depth. As a tourist, you'd probably skip it, especially if you have been to some of the more prominent art museums around the world. PROS: ~Beautiful modern building. ~Free on the first Sunday of the month. (On reflection, we... More
