When I entered the grounds of Opus One and viewed the building, I felt as though I was entering a monastery - beautiful building and surroundings, with piped in music to match. I was greeted by a very friendly gentleman, who explained the procedure and directed me to the tasting room. The small room was occupied by several parties, so... more

Where to begin?? You walk in and you're greeted by a rude, stuffy ....."concierge". She asks you if you made an appointment to pay $30 to taste one glass of their opus one wine. As you stand there in this gigantic room with nothing in it except this rude person and a laptop, you are wondering why you are there,... more

Yes, it's expensive for a winery... Yes, you only taste one wine ("Opus One")... Yes, parts seem like Vegas... But: the wine is very good, the architecture is quite impressive, and the tour (in our case) was very well done and quite educational. The physical grounds of Opus One are beautiful to breath-taking. The architect is the same one who... more

We visited Opus One in June of 2006 and it more than lived up to the hype. After visiting numerous other wineries there is nothing to compare. The interior of the winery is immaculately clean and no detail is overlooked. After going to Benziger and viewing their outdoor destemming and crushing machinery that they promised is cleaned before the crush... more

After a lovely afternoon at Robert Mondavi winery, we got a late appointment at Opus One, on the recommendation of a Robert Mondavi staff member. When we arrived, the unpleasant front desk person did not have our party down on her list. She finally checked with another person who did have our name. We were directed to the tasting room.... more

My fiancé and I were in Napa over the Memorial Day Weekend, booked several reservations, including one at Opus. After reading about the "mystique" of Opus One, and being told how great the wine and overall experience is at the winery, we had a tasting there. My #2 rating can be summed up as this: 1) Overpriced ($25 for each... more

We really enjoyed this tour. The grounds were beautiful and majestic and our French tour guide (Estella) was charming. They make one wine and it is a French-American (Mondovi) partnership. After the tour we shared a glass of their wine ($160 per bottle) on the rooftop terrace. The experience was lovely. more

If you appreciate modern architecture, you simply must visit Opus while staying in California Wine Country. The grounds are impeccable and simplistic, not a thing out of place. Light stone, glass, and steel make up the most unusual winery in the area. That being said, the wine is incredible. The day we visited, we were greeted immediately by the most... more
