We stumbled upon the Museum and did not have time to go through. The Gardens are filled with fun, moving, and interesting art as well as great views of the lake. Go all the way to the top if you have the time.

The building, the location, the exhibits...all delightful. Nice surprise was when we asked about a military discount; it was free for both of us! Thank you for remembering the veterans. The café is a bit pricey but the food is well done and worth it. A tip is to always check on discounts and if you are adults, plan to... More

As a native California, I know a lot about this state. Yet, this museum continues to show me new things, whether they are new facts or a new way of seeing the state. What I particularly like is how the museum is laid out. Three layers, art, history, and nature. And within each layer, there's thoughtful organization. The natural history... More

Come with plenty of time. It is a deep dive into the history o California. Lots of multimedia to indulge the experience for you and your kids. Very interactive also art exhibitions. A must for every visitor of the Bay Area. I would even go that far to tell you, that this must be your first stop. Also nice cafe... More

Love this community hub of art, history, and natural sciences. There is something for everyone from the interactive exhibits, the beautiful gardens speckled with sculptures, and a store filled with unique finds. Also, absolutely love the vibrant community feeling of Fridays at OMCA- the food trucks and live music bring such a diverse crowd together. Thank you OMCA for offering... More

I went to the Pacific Worlds exhibit at the Oakland Museum yesterday. The museum itself is very nice, not to small, not too big, and they have places for you to sit if you need to rest. They have an inexpensive parking garage, and a café, plus I liked their gift shop that had items for adults as well as... More

Based on the ranking as #1 on Trip Advisor of things to do in Oakland, I had high expectations. We visit quite a few museums on vacation, and this is a good museum, about average as I have rated it. There was good information, and well done exhibits, but for me, unfortunately, I had trouble maintaining my attention.

This Museum is no difference than other Museums but I love their restaurant, which is kind of business oriented and entertaining at the same time not to mention great variety of food it has to offer.

Easy access great exhibits that change frequently. Eatery inside and gift shop. Close to Lake Merritt and downtown which is convenient for public transportation.

This museum was a delightful surprise. Our first visit was a "drop in" to check it out. We quickly realized this museum is worth at least a half day visit and a return trip now and then. We didn't eat there, but the cafe looked inviting. As a native Californian and sometime resident of Oakland, I would say this is... More
