If you wanna watch a movie in a funky, couching-it kind-of-way, New Parkway is the place. The vibe is so relaxed that you could just chill and have your food delivered to you inside as you're watching. The cinema supports the local community too, I believe via teasers before the movie, so I think that's great. If you wanna have... More

Great place to sit in a soft chair or sofa and eat-drink while watching good art films. It's full of hipsters. Great local beers. Eat in lobby seating or inside the theaters. Retro decorations. One seat is an oldtime hairdryer. First visit is a little confusing until you learn how it works, and make sure you're in line for the... More

We had a great time here. We used to frequent their old place on Park, but hadn't been to the new one until just recently. It retains the funk and happy vibe of the original, but the food is definitely better! All employees were friendly and helpful and we saw a great film, " About a Boy". On the down... More

I love this place. Its so relaxed and well priced. You pay for your movie, order some food, maybe popcorn and beer, maybe a burger, and grab a seat. When your order is ready, they bring it to you in the theater. You can choose to sit at a table on the ground floor or up int he balcony on... More

The New Parkway is an inexpensive way to have a wonderful family outing in Oakland. They *MAKE* their own food which is good, so it beat s a theater concession stand by a mile. They show harder to find documentary or thought provoking films mixed with just plain fun movies. You can hang in their lounge area and eat/chill OR... More

What can I say. They made a good thing even better. They are eco friendly, hip and know how to make a good Sangria! Went there on a date night and it did not disappoint. They have got to figure out the parking though . . .would not feel safe walking around there by myself at night.

Old time movies and brand-new first runs that you may not find elsewhere. You can get tasty beverages and snacks to enjoy during the shows. A crowd pleaser.

The New Parkway, apparently, is almost as good as the Old Parkway (which I've never been to). In any case -- this is a fun way to go to the movies -- instead of lumpy theater seats, choose one of a dozen couches or easy chairs. Order a beer or a glass of wine with your popcorn. Forget something at... More

There was a movie here that I wanted to see and it was a limited engagement and no one available to join me so I would say coming here alone is fine but more fun with a group so you could get a table or two together or sit on the sofas in the mezzanine. The movie was $8 and... More

I was a fan of the old Parkway, and very sad when it closed. Used a Groupon for the New Parkway, and was pleasantly surprise. Admittedly, we went to a Saturday matinee, so it wasn't that crowded, bt the process of tickets, ordering, and delivery seemed improved from the old venue. Downside - not as many sofas, and smaller screen(s).
