Went to church on the lake in the 40's and 50's. Like the changes that have been made since that time. More

We dined at the Lake restaurant at night and all the lights made the area beautiful . Food was great and the service too. More

This is a wonderful park in the middle of Oakland. We went on a Segway tour around the lake. Lots of runners, walkers, rowers, a wonderful restaurant on the west side, lots of lawn area for picnickers. One problem, especially on the north end, is geese pooping on the lawn. Still, it is nice to see so many people outside... More

This could be an urban jewel, in fact it used to be just that. The fortunes of this beautiful lake have fallen with the fortunes of this beautiful city. Once a safe, thriving, fascinating community, it is now a sad, neglected, blighted product of years of neglect, corruption, crime and willful destruction. Yet it is still beautiful. More

Again, this is a landmark very close to my work. While it's nice to have a lake here, the truth is that it's a shallow little lake and it often gets stinky. It's better having a lake here for some open space than nothing, but I wouldn't really go out of my way to come here. I've walked all the... More

Again, another place visited since early 40's with family! What I enjoyed most this time, is the Lake Merritt Boat House Resturant..spend a liesurly lunch out on their decks over the water, or a lovely dinner in the p.m. Also oyster bar overlooking the lake. Good place for a large group..party.. More
