I went here two nights in a row for concerts and sat in different areas of the theatre and the sound was perfect. The theatre is gorgeous so take the time to really look around. My main complaint was that they seemed totally unprepared for the amount of people wanting alcohol. The line was over an hour long before the... More

I was lucky enough to have recently seen two concerts at the Paramount Theatre. This is a beautiful venue inside and out. The art deco styling is amazing and really takes you back to another time. This theatre makes any event even more special. Acoustics in the theater were great. It is a small enough venue, that I'm not sure... More

My first time visiting this beautiful theater was just this past weekend when I saw Tim Reynolds & Dave Matthews play an acoustic set together. Aside from the fact that it was an unbelievable show, this quaint venue really added another dimension of intimacy to the show. We were sitting in the 30th row and still had a perfect view... More

Of course it would matter what concert you were seeing, but we went to see Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds and it was a phenomenal concert. I have been to many many Dave Matthews concerts all over and this was one of the quaintest most intimate venues. It only seats just over 3,000 people so you can imagine. Very ornately... More

So glad Oakland is preserving its heritage from the 30s. A beautiful space. Go there for concerts of any kind in an old-worldly setting.

If you have a chance to see the Oakland Symphony or any other special event at the Paramount...run, don't walk!! It is just breathtaking; evocative of another era where art deco elegance inspired artists of all types. They offer public tours on the first and third Saturdays of the month for $5.00 per person.

Went to see St. Vincent with my husband on a Friday night and it was like a walk down memory lane. Old world movie charm from when we were growing up. There were maybe 8 other couples in the movie so seats were not crowded.( no cup holders) Old theatre charm comes at a price. The concession st as nd... More

Beautiful old movie palace, great place for concerts. Often run classic old movies on Friday nights. The surrounding uptown neighborhood is full of great new restaurants. Friday nights are busy with many younger people around. Reasonably safe area on main streets and when people are around..

The Paramount started out at an Art Deco movie palace and years ago was refurbished and serves as Oakland's premier entertainment venue. I've been many times over the years. It's dazzling and I highly recommend finding an event and checking it out.

I started going to the Paramount in the early 50's when it was a movie theater. It sat dormant for many years until it was lovingly restored to its full glory as one of the nation's premier theaters. Enjoying its architecture is worth the price of admission alone besides the great entertainment offered there.
