I loved this place! For a whopping $5, you can take a Saturday morning tour led by extremely knowledgeable people throughout the entire theater that was built many years ago and lovingly (and expensively) restored in recent years. It is a classic! Much history there and the tour brings it all together, from the origins of the theater to the... More

The Paramount is a splendid Art Deco theater, now restored as a venue for many events, from the Nutcracker to other musical extravaganzas. Do take the Saturday tour. You'll get a sense of how the great movie palaces of the past operated.

The Paramount is a lovely ART Deco historic theater. There are two bars. Most of the time, the bar on the second floor is less crowded that the main lower level bar. When you go, take a look around. The art designs are lovely.

This is a real art deco palace. Restored to its original beauty, it looks better today than it did when I was a kid in the 60's! I used to fantasize about a glamorous life outside of Oakland when I was a boy and now when I'm there I can reminisce about my boyhood. Don't miss this place if you... More

the inside of the theatre is beautiful --- it looks like all the movie theatres you've seen in old films. the seats are big and comfortable, the decor is just fabulous and it didn't hurt that the film they were showing was grace kelly & cary grabt in to catch a thief. it was so much fun -- i highly... I flew to Oakland to see Mark Knopfler, had VIP tickets and loved every minute of the concernt! Great intimate venue, comfortable, great sound. Best of all was being able to walk to the theatre from where I stayed with a friend.

the Paramount is a beautiful tribute to a bygone era when going to the theater/movies/performances was about the beauty of the surrounding and the performance. The Paramount was lovingly restored all of its former beauty and is also an excellent venue for concerts (we go to the Oakland Speaker Series there, which I also highly recommend). Try to go around... More

The Paramount Theatre has been around for years and I've attended an abundance of concerts and comedy shows here. What I like about the Paramount is the old theatre feel. It's a smaller venue compared to big arenas. If your attending a comedy show at the Paramount it's the perfect venue for it however a concert, live music etc. Not... More

Sadly I did not have an opportunity to view the inside off this theater, however, the outside is beautiful and worth a visit.
