I didn't stop in to catch a show, but I knew before my vacation was up I wanted to snap a picture- and I'm glad I did. Seeing that large "PARAMONT" sign cascading from the front just made it all worthwhile. Next time, I will most definitely have to make it inside.

The Paramount Theater of m youth was just another movie venue. Lovely, big, and fun to attend. Now it is where I watch the Symphony and some Friday night special movies. Beautifully renovated, it has the charm of an concert hall with wonderful accoustics.

Have seen concerts and graduation ceremonies there. It is a simply gorgeous example of a beautifully restored art deco theater. Many kudos to whoever had the vision (and means) to do such a wonderful restoration.

They have monthly classic movie nights - worth going just to see the decor and the guy playing the organ rising up from the stage.

I loved this place! For a whopping $5, you can take a Saturday morning tour led by extremely knowledgeable people throughout the entire theater that was built many years ago and lovingly (and expensively) restored in recent years. It is a classic! Much history there and the tour brings it all together, from the origins of the theater to the... More

The Paramount is a splendid Art Deco theater, now restored as a venue for many events, from the Nutcracker to other musical extravaganzas. Do take the Saturday tour. You'll get a sense of how the great movie palaces of the past operated.

The Paramount is a lovely ART Deco historic theater. There are two bars. Most of the time, the bar on the second floor is less crowded that the main lower level bar. When you go, take a look around. The art designs are lovely.

This is a real art deco palace. Restored to its original beauty, it looks better today than it did when I was a kid in the 60's! I used to fantasize about a glamorous life outside of Oakland when I was a boy and now when I'm there I can reminisce about my boyhood. Don't miss this place if you... More
