Not like many "old town" areas. A little more downmarket than many, but nicely verdant and with a healthy variety of stores. Not at all "touristy," which we appreciated.

I live in Novato and shop here frequently. There are nice women's clothing boutiques, specialty gift shops, restaurants, a great bakery, and antique/consignment shops. There is a nice jewelers and other services. The area is basically one street (Grant), about five level blocks. Parking is free and usually available. It is great for walking and perusing, for gift shopping, for... More

The shops vary in merchandise, so almost everything can be purchased in Old Town. The merchants are friendly and helpful. There are many unique items to buy which make your home unique and gifts really appreciated.

It is clean and has a western historical feel. People seemed a little hippie-ish, but hey it is the Bay area!

The Old Town area of downtown Novato is reminiscent of many small towns of the past, yet here you will find everything from fine dining to comfort food restaurants, upscale shopping as well as thrift stores, and establishments of every type. If you find yourself in the area, Old Town Novato is well worth a visit!

Old town is a fun place to walk around and shop. Lots of different kinds of places to eat. Cute little individually own shops. And dog friendly.

Yes, this is my home town. Yes, there is a lot of history and it is old. However, our downtown Novato "Old Town" section is only 3-4 blocks long. There are some good restaurants and some gift stores, but stores aren't open here on Sundays so I don't shop here at all. My hair salon is in the old Town... More

Love comming here for a stroll or checking out the boutiques and antique stores. Great breakfast restaurants & ethnic food restaurants. At the end of the town there's a Whole Foods.

Want a peek into the past? The flavor remains on the main street of "old Novato." Worth a walk through the 4 blocks and the interesting shops.
