The Orange County Museum of Art had been in existence now for 50 years. It is primarily interesting for its varied special exhibits, now until May 27th the Ocean Park Series by Richard Diebenkorn. Displayed in eight spacious galleries in a modern building, the Diebenkorn exhibit is a temporally representative survey of 25 of the 140 numbered Series painted over... More

OCMA had an extensive Diebenkorn exhibit well organized and displayed. Not overwhelming. Useful timeline showing Diebenkorn's development. Art grouped by period, showing overlap of styles. Small museum store. Didn't see a café but didnt matter as fashion island nearby with many restaurants. More

I visit art museums all over the world. When I visited there was a Dibenkorn solo exhibit that would rival any in "the big city." I assume that other times other interesting art worth seeing is displayed. More

The art is "off the wall" and new to many of us. The venue itself is very comfortable and light. It is a good place for viewing art. I'm sure the shows vary in their quality, but is a nice place to spend a few hours in a weekend afternoon. More

I like contempory art and the museum currently has an Alexander Calder exhibit. Calder is known as the creator/inventer of the mobile. Mobiles, of course, are designed to change constantly because of wind, sunlite, even someone waking past them creating a change in the air flow. This museum, remarkably, had no air flow going. The pieces were totally static. You... More

My daughter (a recent graduate of Cal Poly SLO with fine arts degree), and I went to OCMA last week. I could not believe Orange County would have such a tiny art museum. Literally 2 rooms on the bottom floor of building that took about 5 min. to tour. I requested a refund and received one. Someone start fund raising... More

Interesting place, but they have soup cans and a photocopy of Mona Lisa with a moustache on the wall. I mean, since when is that art? Well, it's a MoMA, I guess. I got what I expected. More

This art museum is pretty nice, located near Fashion Island. They have an extensive modern art collection and feature a lot of California artists. On Thursdays, admission is free, and occassionally they have bands playing there at night. It's pretty interesting. More
