We have visited 3 times now and are never disappointed. I finally joined their wine club but will still continue to visit.
After three days of traveling all over Napa Valley with a driver, I can't reiterate strongly enough how bad Darioush was. Yes it was beautiful but so are most of the wineries. It was horribly overpriced and unfriendly. My girlfriend and I spent tons of money and we love getting what we pay for. When I read the 5 star... More
Transported back in time to ancient Persia to taste brilliant wines? Loved the simulacra (shout out to my critical theory classes in grad school). Our host Eric was phenomenal, wines were great, and these are some of the coolest wine labels in the biz. I've since been transported back to -5 degrees in Illinois - the Darioush Viognier in the... Welcome to the Darioush Winery! You drive up to this opulent building with valet parking (so expect it to be more expensive - which it is) but you won't be disappointed. We bought two of the $40 flights of five tastes (split them between 4 people). The wine is fabulous and we live only 90 minutes away from Napa, and... More
On the Silverado Trail near Napa just north of town sits a stately building that could be a Persian castle. That is Darioush, a winery with an Iranian flare. The wines are big bold reds with a few experiments in white wine as well. All great wines. My personal favorite is the Duel a Cabernet Savignon / Shiraz blend. They... More
The architecture on this building is interesting - very lavish, as it's done up like a Persian palace. When we were here, we had a wonderful tasting guy who was friendly and informative. The wines are good, but not great, though. And they're overpriced for the quality you get, I'm afraid.
I really enjoyed the wines here, I have tasted wine pretty much from all over California and the world too so I know what I'm talking about, what I have notice with people, specially the ones who don't drink wine and if they do, they only drink the wine boxes they buy at the grocery store which is usually cheap... This is a posh upscale winery very unique to others in the area. It is absolutely beautiful as you drive up to see the flame in the circle and the columns in front of the grand entrance. Inside it is a square walk up tasting bar with off to the sides speciality couched group seating areas. It was somewhat cold... More
No doubt about it, the grounds at Darioush are very unique and worth a visit. I signed up for the cheese and wine pairing that included a brief tour of the property and really enjoyed the tour. When it came to the pairing, however, I wasn't as impressed. While I found three of the wines much nicer than many tripadvisor... More
The columns that greet you in front make you think for a while you might be in Vegas :) But these are a good subject for architectural photography. Haven't tasted their wines so I am just writing this review from an architectural perspective. Truly an architectural standout in Napa!
