Located on 217 acres in the Carneros region of Napa Valley, di Rosa...

Located on 217 acres in the Carneros region of Napa Valley, di Rosa houses the foremost collection of contemporary Bay Area art, with nearly 2,000 works by 800 artists. A wide range of styles, media, and subject matter provide an overview of the creative energy and freedom to experiment that characterize this region of California. The Gatehouse Gallery welcomes drop-in visitors to view di Rosa’s current exhibition, but in order to view the full extent of the collection (including the Main Gallery, Residence, and Sculpture Meadow) a tour is required. These informal, guided tours include time for independent viewing of the artwork. Open Wednesday through Sunday. Advance reservations for tours are highly recommended.

This location is physically beautiful, but the (required) 2 hour tour takes you to see 100's of pieces of art on a guided tour led by nice people, but you have to RUSH and run...so it is an unpleasant experience for anyone who appreciates looking at art...not running through and (trying to) looking at art in a relaxed and comfortable... WARNING! We go lost trying to find the facility and we even had a GPS. Look for the Orange gate. Otherwise this was a great experience. The docents were well informed and the sculpture collection was remarkable. It was a very hot day, but still pleasant. We took a tram to the meadow, but walked back enjoying additional sculptures and... More

What is art? After touring many museums around the world, we thought we had acquired an appreciation for all types of arts; however, this place left us speechless. From a framed picture of a toast to a car hanging from a tree branch - bizarre every step of the way. Our questions to the guide only prompted responses like "the... More

What a fabulous stop for those that appreciate a wide range of art form and work...imagine a tub full of objects that make you think outside the suds or subtle and not so subtle art forms that the well trained docents will make you see the obvious you quite frankly hadn't. Geronimo stares at you on a platform of push... More

First of all, don't plan on just visiting the Gatehouse for the $5 viewing area. The pieces at the Gatehouse are mediocre and not at all representative of what you will see if you take a guided tour - and you certainly should take it! If you hate contemporary art, then this place is not for you. But otherwise, prepare... More

This is an indoor/outdoor modern art collection that you must take the tour to see. It is worth it to stop by if you are spending more than 2 days in wine country. Your liver will thank you for a break. Some of the pieces are truly eye candy. There are two tours, one is 1 1/2 hours and the... More

The collection of California modern artists that was amassed by di Rosa is housed throughout his grounds and every room and toilet in his former home. It is brimming with humor and incredibly clever references, and is an extremely entertaining afternoon.

From the kooky to the wondrous, Mr and Mrs DiRosa loved it all and created this beautiful space to show contemporary art. Make a reservation, plan your eating well (as there is no food or drink allowed) and be ready to smile, be puzzled, entranced and turned off.

I was really excited to visit this Gallery as I love modern art, but was very disappointed with the experience. I arrived at a time when I could not take the full tour, so opted to pay for the admission to the main gallery as a preview. What a dud. There were a few pieces of art and that was... More

We took the 2 hr tour at di Rosa. The very contemporary art and grounds are interesting as well as learning about the collector himself. While this was not my preference of art, it was entertaining to see such a vast amount of this type of art. If you are looking to add some variety to your itinerary while traveling... More
