This place reeks of attitude and artistic pretension in the worst sort of way. Wanting to make a quick stop to see a few examples of sculpture from this collection, we entered the Gatehouse Gallery where a sign stands front and center requesting a "suggested donation" of $5 per person ($20 for a party of four). The words "suggested" and... More

This has to be one of the most picturesque settings to visit a private modern art collection: around a lovely lake with sculptures dotted around the fields and vine covered hillside with peacocks strutting about as if they own the place. We took a 2 hour guided tour ($15 per person) on a hot sunny Saturday afternoon and this took... More

The diRosa is open Wednesdays-Sundays, and the only way to visit more than just the Gatehouse Gallery is on a guided tour. We took a two-hour tour with Janet and Arthur as our guides. It was evident that they are passionate about this collection! Although the art on display may not be your cup of tea, it was interesting to... More

Rene di Rosa created an extraordinary wildlife preserve combined with an eclectic collection of modern art. His vast collection is quite remarkable and he himself had a great sense of humor.

The owners of this "artwork" should keep to their day jobs and forget about "collecting" art. I agree that art should cause an emotional response to the viewer but all I felt was....... It's some else's garbage on display. It should have been thrown away. Ps: don't take children under 12 yrs old.

My son took his wife and myself to visit an art collection in the Napa Valley, knowing that we both liked art. What we saw was a vast collection of very poor taste. There was only one painting in the whole collection which I appreciated. Plastering colour on a canvas and sticking everyday articles en masse on a car, or... More

This art collection is housed indoors and outdoors and contains some fantastic and fantastical art pieces. Wear comfortable shoes and choose a nice day to be out and about in the wine country.

If you're like me, going to art museums may not be your first priority. However, the Di Rosa art museum is unlike anything I've ever seen. Many of the pieces are large and kinetic. Many are even outdoors. One of the featured artists is David Best, the guy who creates the sculptures for Burning Man festivals. The museum grounds are... More
