Owner description: Located on 217 acres in the Carneros region of Napa Valley, di Rosa houses the foremost collection of contemporary Bay Area art, with nearly 2,000 works by 800 artists. A wide range of styles, media, and subject matter provide an overview of the creative energy and freedom to experiment that characterize this region of California. The Gatehouse Gallery welcomes drop-in visitors to view di Rosa’s current exhibition, but in order to view the full extent of the collection (including the Main Gallery, Residence, and Sculpture Meadow) a tour is required. These informal, guided tours include time for independent viewing of the artwork. Open Wednesday through Sunday. Advance reservations for tours are highly recommended.

I was truly impressed by the quality of the art both inside the facilities and in the meadows surrounding it. We had a great docent. We took a 1.5 hour tour and I could have spent a ton more time there. I am not even a particularly artsy type but I really enjoyed this (as did my wife).

Tucked away behind a berm off Highway 29 is one of the most eclectic, broad-ranging and interesting modern art collections north of the Golden Gate bridge. With a 30+ acre sculpture garden and multiple exhibition buildings, the diRosa Collection has a wondrous array of modern art. The tour of the property is a fun diversion from wine tasting and the... A very good place to see a sample of Californian artists, diverse forms and media, as well as the place where the founder of the gallery lived for a long time - with family furniture and memorabilia. Tours only - and start only several times of the day. Check the schedule before you go.

As a Napa resident, I'm always surprised by the number of wine country visitors who have not heard of the di Rosa art preserve in Carneros. We take all our guests to the di Rosa not only to view the extensive art collection but to see the magnificent grounds - hundreds of acres - that are as fascinating as the... More

We spent quite a bit of time here, viewing the galleries, the home and taking the guided meadow tour. di Rosa has an extensive collection of unique, mostly modern art displayed both indoors and outdoors on a large, sprawling property. I would suggest taking a tour as there are many interesting stories associated with Rene di Rosa, the property and... More

I'd driven past this place for years, always wondering what was up with those wooden sheep on the hill. One day a group of us went, and for a whopping $5, I got a tour of the gallery, and ride out to the main property. The art is quite modern, very californian, some interactive, some a bit freakish...with an art... More

A very unique art collection in a beautiful setting. Make sure you take the 2 hour tour which includes a jitney ride to the large gallery, the amazing house (imagine living with all that art around you!), and the outdoor pieces. The tour of a dozen people was led by two knowledgeable docents who provided an interesting overview of the... More

Beautiful grounds for this very eclectic art display. We raced from the airport to get here in time for the tour and weren't disappointed. A fun thing to do if you are in the Carneros area.

A extensive collection of what may be the most poorly chosen collection I have ever seen. The tour lasted two hours and two minutes would have sufficed. Sorry di rosa.

Had a guided tour (with van ride) of the art and the property. Worth the trip. A mall charge for the docent.
