The Ambassador Winery Tour was our choice, there are many to choose from. This particular tour had priority boarding and seating in the Vista Dome which is an elevated observation style dining car expertly refurbished using mahogany paneling, brass accents and curved glass roof. An absolutely amazing lunch prepared on the train by the Chef was served, I had the... More

A cattle car (with good food, however). The slow ride only enhanced the moderate rocking of the cars. DO NOT take this excursion if you are motion sensitive. I had to take a cab back from Grgich Hills.

This is a wonderful experience that should not be missed if you are in the Napa area. There are ten old Pullman carriages and the train trip takes about three hours passed beautiful scenery of the nearby wineries. Even the meal on the train isn't bad. It is one of those experiences that really should not be missed.

One of our wine-tour guides said "Skip it, it's boring", and we were so glad we didn't take his advise. We (two couples) took the lunch trip on the domed car and had great service and wonderful food at a relaxed pace. Then wandered the train and ended with a great glass of wine in the bar car. Don't forget... More

This was one of the many things my husband and I did on our honeymoon. It was by far better then what I was expecting. The lunch and dessert on the train was delicious. We got really lucky and didn't have anyone sitting at the same table as us. The view from the train was breathtaking. Once we got off... More

Our group of 8 decided on the lunch train ride in the domed train car. It was a very comfortable way to ease in to Napa Valley. We had a couple of busy wine touring days booked so this was a nice opportunity to sit back, enjoy the view and the meal while our very knowledgeable server filled us in... More

My husband and I and another couple celebrated our 30th and 31st Anniversaries this month. We read about the Napa Valley Wine Train Vista Dome in the Wall Street Journal and thought we'd take a chance. Wow! What an amazing way to see some of the spectacular Napa Valley wineries. The food, the service and the ambiance made our visit... More

My siblings and I treated our elderly parents to the Wine Train. What a wonderful experience ! The staff was very accommodating, even had a wheelchair for us. They let us board first, which was helpful. As we enjoyed views of the vineyards, a top notch luncheon was served, including wine, in the Victorian train car. We had a one... More

Good to do once if you like trains. We did the tour where we were bussed to Raymond Winery first and picked up the train for lunch. We boarded for lunch and we were brought into a car that had obviously served the previous group and it was a mess. Tables were very tight (although we expected that on a... More
