In 1930 the Shrine Drive-Through Tree was made; it was a time when making such attractions was a popular thing to do as both auto travel and the ability to see a redwood tree were both very new and intriguing to do. While I would not want to see another redwood tree "sacrificed" in such a touristy way, since it... More

This is right off the Avenue of the Giants, making it very convenient. It is well laid out and definitely worth an extra 15 or 20 minutes and the $6.00 cost of admission.

After having driven through the Chandelier Tree earlier in the day, this didn't quite live up to our expectations. It was unique, being able to drive through a tree, but the split in the tree goes much further up and it feels more like driving through a ruin. Also, the park is literally right off the main road and the... More

This may not be the nicest of the drive through trees but there are other things here too. The "Tree Houses" are really cool and my grandson enjoyed playing in them. The "drive on" tree is a nice picture opportunity to stand next to a fallen tree (this tree was in much better shape when I got my picture standing... More

After a long day of hiking (and getting lost) in the Redwood Forest, this was a fun activity. After all, how many people can say they've driven through a tree? It makes a great photo.

We traveled in our RV and although we knew it wouldn't fit, we decided to walk through. The cost is $4 for a carload or $3 for each walk up, weird. There are a couple of really cool tree houses carved out of a tree, the kids will enjoy checking those out. We walked through the tree and took pictures,... More

OK, you've come THIS FAR and think the $6 is steep and/or that this is a scam???!!! Really??? Come On! Live a little and have some fun! Kids and adults alike will get a kick out of driving THROUGH the tree! We had the sunroof open and the kids were sticking out the top and trying to reach the sides... More

How can you not come to the Redwoods and get a picture of yourself driving your car through a tree? This is a once in a lifetime event and one of the cool but quirky things to do along the redwood coast. We made it through in an Equinox with little trouble. Half of the fun is watching people panic... More

After driving through "Avenue of Giants" ,we visited " SHRINE DRIVE THRU TREE " at MYERS FLAT ,CA , which gave us a thrilling driving experience of driving through a giant Red Wood tree 3000 years old with a height of 175 feet, diameter 21 feet and circumference 64 feet. There is an entry fee of 6$ and a waiting... More

This is one of those classic things you have to do on a road trip. We drove through in a Chevrolet Equinox and fit through with a little breathing room. Don't forget to fold in your mirrors. We arrived after 7pm and there were only a couple of other cars. Don't rush through as you may never get to do... More
