After driving through "Avenue of Giants" ,we visited " SHRINE DRIVE THRU TREE " at MYERS FLAT ,CA , which gave us a thrilling driving experience of driving through a giant Red Wood tree 3000 years old with a height of 175 feet, diameter 21 feet and circumference 64 feet. There is an entry fee of 6$ and a waiting... More

This is one of those classic things you have to do on a road trip. We drove through in a Chevrolet Equinox and fit through with a little breathing room. Don't forget to fold in your mirrors. We arrived after 7pm and there were only a couple of other cars. Don't rush through as you may never get to do... More

Where I am from, driving through a tree is often a fatal experience, as it means one was hit at a high rate of speed. In California, it is a tourist trap. As other reviewers noted, the tree was dying, but like all other redwoods, new sprouts were coming off of the base. Everyone should drive through a tree once.... More

If you are even within a half hour to an hour of the Shrine Tree, it is an absolute must do for one of those touristy trap visits. It costs $6 to drive your car through the tree. Yes, it sounds corny, but how cool is that to be able to actually "drive" through a tree! Well, worth the $6.

We read the reviews before coming here, but you know what... it's one of those things you pay the $6 for you do it once and then you NEVER have to do it again. We thought my daughter would get a kick out of it and she did. I unbuckled her from her booster put her on my lap and... More

Wow - this is $6 to drive through a dead tree held up by cables so it doesn't fall over. The opening is made by chainsawing. What a scam. Save your money.

It's a neat place, cool to do once in a lifetime but pretty expensive considering it's only worth about 2 1/2 minutes of entertainment.

Remember to look up inside the tree, especially if you have a sunroof. Take lots of photos and enjoy. There's a nice winery right next door too.

We hopped off of 101 and onto the 'Avenue of Giants' here at Myers Flat with this being our first stop. We did it just to say we had driven through a tree. It was 6$ which my husband thought was a bit much to pay to drive through a tree but I didn't mind, it was a unique experience.... More
