There are very few wineries in all of California to match the setting, the beauty, and the expansive variety of attractions as at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys. During a recent visit, the hillsides were bursting with color from literally hundreds of thousands of daffodils greeting the arrival of spring in the Mother Lode. Along with the beautiful flowers, a stroll... More

Ironstone Vineyards is probably the most extensive and elaborate winery in Gold Rush Country. It is the 17th largest winery in the U.S.! The grounds of this private family-owned winery include a cattle farm, vineyards, winery, wine caverns, expansive landscaped grounds, lakeside park, outdoor amphitheater, visitors' center, gift shop, tasting room, cafe, culinary center, and history museum. The museum displays... More

Who knew this place existed? I sure didn't. Wow. It's like a lavish French garden, but created for the 1850s. The gold rush spirit is alive and well at the Ironstone Museum with various trinkets and artifacts from the original California hey dey. But, the focal point — the grand finale — is the giant Kautz Crystalline Gold Specimen, the... More

We visited this Winery in October, it was beautiful, the colors were gorgeous, weather wonderful. I have been to Murphys several times and had never been there. The grounds are gorgeous, you can just walk around and enjoy their beauty. The museum was very interesting. No charge for these, most places I have been to like this, will charge for... More

The short trip from downtown Murphy's to the Ironstone Winery is well worth it. Their gold country museum offers an opportunity to see one of the largest gold nuggets on private display and there is a free tour of the grounds and winery. There is no cost to park or visit and the tours are interesting. Of course, there is... More

My wife is a quilter so we decided to take in the Quilt Faire held at Ironstone Vineyards. The winery sponsors various events throughout the year and this one was a winner. Over 100 quilts, wall hangings, dolls along with many vendors both in the quilting area and crafts were on hand to sport their craft. Be sure and don't... More

We came here after hearing a suggestion for the tour. We expected a nice tour to see how the wine was made, but instead were shown a tour of the grounds and barely any wine making facilities. In fact, I don't think they make wine here at all (or very limited amounts). I have been on other winery tours and... More

Even if you are not a wine drinker, this is a great place to visit. The flowers are beautiful every season of the year. The museum is interesting as well. I even like lunch at the snack bar. There is also wine tasting available. I live near here and visit it a few times each year with both family and... More
