I went out on the slough with a bunch of photographers. The Safari pilot was fantastic in not only taking us way into the slough and navigating us to Sea Otters galore. We were able to photograph sea otters eating on the their backs with their babies in tow. Not just a few, but dozens and dozens. Also every type... More

I have taken this trip in the past and always enjoyed seeing all the birds and marine mammals. The business has changed ownership, and I must say I enjoyed the outing even more this time!! The captain and deck hand were great. Austin, the naturalist on board did a fantastic job of identifying numerous bird species, sea lions, harbor seals,... More

I did this excursion last February and was fortunate enough to hit a mild sunny day. A soggy day would definitely dampen the fun on this tour. I was also fortunate to get the last seat on the boat that holds about two dozen people. I got in with a day's notice but reservations are frequently necessary. The pontoon boat... More

Only six guests and three naturalists on board plus great weather made for an enjoyable morning. Good variety of birds along with otters, sea lions and seals. A nice trip for nature-loving families, including kids of any age. Recommended.

We took this cruise on our way back to San Francisco from Monterey, with the goal of getting a closer view of the local wildlife. They definitely delivered, with dozens of Harbor Seals, California Sea Lions, and Sea Otters, as well as more than 30 species of birds. The crew was very well informed, and did a good job of... If you have a little travel/picnic blanket in the trunk of your car like I do, I’d recommend bringing it along, even if it seems like a warm day. On the way back, the boat heads directly into to the wind, and that wind off the water can be quite chilly. Another nice thing about a blanket is that you... More

Highly recommend! We weren't sure what to expect, but booked based on other positive reviews. It was one of the highlights of our visit to the Monterey Peninsula. Maggie (naturalist) and Captain Joe were so helpful in pointing out a myriad of birds and other wildlife. Their enthusiasm and genuine love and appreciation of nature showed through. Professional, well organized,... More

We saw lots of wild life which included a baby otter and a nice Blue Herring. We also learned that Mr. Hewlet purchase the area to keep it natural and not turn into another over developed area.

So glad we did this tour. We had considered whale watching but had done those types of trips before. The Safari took us into the slough where we saw not only harbour seals, sea lions but lots of sea otters and over 31 different kinds of sea birds. Our naturalist and the captain were very knowledgeable providing excellent commentary and... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Elkhorn Slough. We saw many otters, seals, and birds. The crew was very excited when some of the passengers (and crew) saw an elephant seal in the harbor before we left. That was rare and to see the crew taking as many pictures as the passengers proved how rare it was. They were... More
