Sorry for the silliness. I went on this tour hoping to see an otter. I saw TONS. And learned so much about the other wildlife in the slough. Our guide Laura managed to give lots of information to the adults AND keep the youngsters interested. This is a must see.

My husband and son took a kayak through Elkhorn Slough and enjoyed their experience. But I think that I got a better view of birds and marine life on the Elkhorn Safari because we were able to cover more ground. It was a photographer's dream!!! I saw over 90 each of sea otters, seals, and sea lions (they kept a... More

We did the August 6th safari and loved it! Our family of four includes our 16 year old son and almost-thirteen year old daughter. Before we even left the dock we saw sea lions and sea otters. The time fled by as we all spotted wildlife and helped to keep count. We found this to be a very child-friendly activity... More

We purchased on-line tickets for my wife, me and our nearly-nine year old grandson to Elkhorn Slough Safari, a boating excursion on Elkhorn Slough, a waterway connecting to California's Monterey Bay. There were about 25 people on board for this nearly 2 hour experience. The captain drove the boat, while a naturalist on board (was her name Bree?) provided a... More

We took a 10:30am tour and loved every minute. Captain and naturalist on board were entertaining and informative, but the wildlife sightings were awesome! It was a beautiful day and we saw lots of sea otters, sea lions and seals, herons, pelicans, cormerants and some other rarer species, as well as a huge jellyfish. The tour was $35/pp plus a... More

My two teen children and I were all looking forward to this pontoon boat ride, and were not disappointed at all. We were all impressed, and had a great time. At first, I thougth 1-1/2 to 2 hours might be too much, but it certainly wasn't. We saw soo many types of wildlife, water life, and the Captain and his... More

We were kayaking and some of us in our group noticed their boat go right up to a sea otter. It was surprising to witness this as I think there are laws to protect our wildlife from boaters and kayakers getting so close? But later as we were taking pictures of the large group of sea lions resting on shore... More

Some adventurers need calm waters rather than the open Pacific Ocean coast line to explore sea lions and seals. This is a very stable way to get out on the water but not the waves and white caps. Lots of wildlife to see and soak up the relaxing scenery.

Well worth the time that you will spend on this "safari". This picturesque tour puts you right in the heart of California wildlife - and you get to be up close and personal during the tour. This tour allows you to see sea lions, harbor seals, sea otters, all types of birds including red tail hawks, The captain and his... More

The Elkhorn Slough has an abundance of wildlife! Captain Yohn is excellent at identifying the birds seen on the trip as well as the other wildlife. Every season has something different to offer for birders, and the mammals - sea otters, harbor seals, and sea lions - are always there. We enjoy the photography on the trip so much that... More
