We took this cruise on our way back to San Francisco from Monterey, with the goal of getting a closer view of the local wildlife. They definitely delivered, with dozens of Harbor Seals, California Sea Lions, and Sea Otters, as well as more than 30 species of birds. The crew was very well informed, and did a good job of... If you have a little travel/picnic blanket in the trunk of your car like I do, I’d recommend bringing it along, even if it seems like a warm day. On the way back, the boat heads directly into to the wind, and that wind off the water can be quite chilly. Another nice thing about a blanket is that you... More

Highly recommend! We weren't sure what to expect, but booked based on other positive reviews. It was one of the highlights of our visit to the Monterey Peninsula. Maggie (naturalist) and Captain Joe were so helpful in pointing out a myriad of birds and other wildlife. Their enthusiasm and genuine love and appreciation of nature showed through. Professional, well organized,... More

We saw lots of wild life which included a baby otter and a nice Blue Herring. We also learned that Mr. Hewlet purchase the area to keep it natural and not turn into another over developed area.

So glad we did this tour. We had considered whale watching but had done those types of trips before. The Safari took us into the slough where we saw not only harbour seals, sea lions but lots of sea otters and over 31 different kinds of sea birds. Our naturalist and the captain were very knowledgeable providing excellent commentary and... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Elkhorn Slough. We saw many otters, seals, and birds. The crew was very excited when some of the passengers (and crew) saw an elephant seal in the harbor before we left. That was rare and to see the crew taking as many pictures as the passengers proved how rare it was. They were... More

This was our third time on the Elkhorn Slough Safari. The business has been sold on since our last visit but the safari is just as good and hardly changed and still good value. We go to get close up photos of sea otters in the slough but there is plenty of other wildlife to see if sea otters are... More

We found this trip on the internet and decided to book it in advance of our holiday which worked out to be one of the best things we did. The trip takes you inland up the Slough to see the amazing sea otters, seals and lots of different bird life. The crew were excellent pointing out even the smallest birds... More

The slough Safari is a great way to spend some time in moss landing. Our naturalist Austin was incredibly knowledgable and made the trip very enjoyable. I learned a lot about the slough

We really enjoyed this trip. The outfitter was professional, ontime, pleasant and knowledgeable. The boat is flat, with seats holding two people on each side. We saw over 400 sea lions, around 100 harbor seals, over 50 sea otters and many different kinds of birds. The sea otters were floating in rafts and also swimming independently. They were so cute....
