Even in January, this stretch of beautiful beach is positioned on the other side of the "rock" from the quaint sea port village and serene bay, welcoming surfers (no wetsuits!) in great numbers. The walk on the beach is quite extensive and, although we did not try it, we wondered if you could actually walk to Cambria from here. The... More

Miles and miles of sand with a very shallow entry into the ocean. This was a great place to hang out. There was plenty of parking and my kids were amazed at the sand dollars - they were everywhere!

A typical pretty, sandy, long, chilly and windy NorCal beach, popular with tourists and locals alike. Although it's posted "Leashed Dogs Only" we saw plenty of people with their pooches off-leash. The surfing seems OK, just a beach break, nothing special. There is plenty of parking right under the rock. Kayaks are available to rent close by for paddling in... More

Every time we stroll on this beach, I love it. Morro Rock to the South and Cayucos to the North. Dogs allowed on the North side and even saw a pony on the beach! Get a cup of Coffee and walk it on a foggy day. They keep it clean and the benches at the top always have fresh paint.... More

I decided to go camping on the weekday and I went to morro strand.one side is close for camping. But the other is open. It was pleasantly clean and I was able to get a great spot. So if you go try to plan on going on the weekday, as for the weekend you most likely not to get a... More

The Strand is undergoing renovations, in March 2015 it looks like it will boast 43 spots with hook ups. Until then it is on a first come first served basis and although construction is ongoing, it's not too noisy. We stayed for one night before moving onto Morro Bay State Park down the road. The nice thing about the Strand... More

Ok if you don't mind camping in the sand. Staff were VERY friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were barely passable. Will go to Morrow Bay State Park next time we are in the area.

On both visits, I have experienced one of the prettiest sunsets and had the privilege of seeing a whale breach in the distance; it was awesome! The sand (on the first visit) was really soft, but on my second trip (one week apart), high-tide happened, and it drastically changed the consistency of the sand to that of smoothness. Morro rock...
