BE WARNED!! We took the whale watching cruise on Sat. 10/24. Yes, when we bought the tickets they said it was foggy and we might not see whales but, if that was the case, they'd give us rain checks (yeah, like I'd ever want to go through such an awful experience again). Yes, before the boat left, the fellow in... more

From my research and the tour itself I think the Cruise Company and guide (marine biologist) were probably as good as any and better than some. However the whole concept of whale watching is rather boring, spending 4+ hours to catch a few seconds glimpses of whale backs and fins (and some dolphins and albatros). Ok with doing it once... more

Not enjoyed the whale watch trip-Too sea sick We took the Monterey Whale watch 4 hour morning trip with Monterey Bay Whale Watch, 84 Fisherman’s Wharf on aug 14 2008, 9 am. The good news was that we saw several whales and other marine animals, there was a good explanation of what we saw and the man in charge of... more

We sailed on the checkmate, which sailed out fo Fisherman's Wharf. The office was across from The Grotto; if you eat there, there is a discount for whale watching on the receipt. We sailed on a beautiful day and easily saw a dozen different whales. There were whales everwhere! The ship wasn't too crowded and it was only $26 for... more

So glad I read the reviews before I went with my 7 year old son. It was great! He loved it too! We sighted humpbacks over 30 times and a few gray whales. The whales are good, but it is the whole experience that is GREAT! The sea lions, the sea birds and the excellent crew make it wonderful. A... more

Worth every penny. We went on the last cruise of the day, so we had the luxury of staying out longer when we ran in to the dolphins! This is something for everyone to love! more

Although very cold and windy, the trip was enjoyable. Some people got seasick (the swells were pretty big) so make sure to take motion sickness medicine before going. We saw 3 humpback whales in action. 1 of them was even lobtailing! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Make sure to dress warmly. more

My family and I had a blast on our 3 hour cruise. We were very fortunate to see may whales including Gray Whales and Killer Whales along with many sea lions and otters. The marine biologist on board was very good in providing migration and general whale information. A couple of little pointers on this experience: * They have binoculars... more
