Thom was a fantastic tour guide. As someone who has run a walking tour company myself for 20 years, I know an excellent guide when I see one. He was very knowledgeable, personable and really brought the story of Monterey to life. I recommend his tours to anyone who visits this beautiful city.

While our "significant others" were out playing golf -- my friend and I decided to do something a little different - since this was our 3rd trip to the area in a year. Tom our Guide was great... He knows his Monterey history - and California history (that I'm sure I was told in school -- so many years ago...).... More

Monterey is an easily laid-out city for a three-hour walking tour. Park your jalopy in the lot on the waterfront near Fisherman's Wharf and amble to Custom House Plaza, which stands next door to the oldest government building in California. Theres two museums, the Monterey and the Pacific, will flesh out the history of the city's past and its American... More

My family and I booked Thom for a whole day tour of Monterey, Carmel, Pebble Beach and down to the northern coast of Big Sur to Bixby Bridge. The area was very very picturesque - like something out of a storybook. Pristine beaches, rocky coastlines, and beautiful missions. I love the fairytale houses and so many flowers! Special mention goes... More

Thom Diggins of Monterey Walking Tours knows a lot about Old Monterey. He shares it generously on an easy two hour walk. He takes you from the present to the recent past when Monterey was a dying town then back to the time when Cabrillo and his crew, the first Europeans, saw the site of Monterey. He works his way... Thom Diggins is a walking wealth of California history and he imparts it is a most enjoyable way. He shows you things and explains how they impacted the development of the state in a way that makes you want the tour to go for another hour or more. He knows and loves Monterey, Cannery Row and it shows. His tour... More

We gave tour-guide Thom a 5-star review for his incredibly interesting and informative tour of Historic Monterey. I asked Thom if we could take this tour for the 80th birthday of a good friend, and he went out of his way to accommodate us. Our friend is a retired teacher and knew a lot about the history of California, BUT... More

I've experienced many walking tours around the world, I have always found that the guides local knowledge and insight adds to the flavor of the information being shared. Thom's knowledge of the history of Canney Row combined with Steinbecks history and current events and local politics added a completely different view of the Row, its history and what may lie... My husband, dog and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour today. Thom is very knowledgeable, professional and personable. We were so inspired that we'll be visiting our library to pick up books on the area just to try and remember everything he shared with us. Really good stuff! We look forward to joining him for another tour soon. I didn't ask... More
