We were the only two on the tour that morning. Thom had an iPad that helped bring the contrast of past and present to life as did his great descriptions. My husband and I had both read some CA history and we had also followed the yellow markers for the free tour but this tour with Thom was really a... More

My wife and I just spent two days in Carmel and Monterey and decided that the best way to learn the history of the area was to take a tour. After consulting Trip Advisor and adding my own research we chose Thom Diggins of the Original Monterey Walking Tours for a 2 hour tour of Monterey. What a great choice.... More

Having been to Monterey Peninsula several times, my wife and I wanted some historical background to the sights we had seen. We signed up for both the Monterey City and the Cannery Row tours - for the same day. What a great day! Thom is extremely knowledgeable of the area, the pacing and the timing of the tours was excellent.... More

My wife and I enjoyed Thom's tour very much. He was pleasant and helpful and informative. As a native of Monterey, he has many interesting insights into the area. He relates his vast knowledge very well. He worked us into his schedule by being very flexible and offering us a private tour at our discretion, which he timed beautifully. Thanks... More

We did the cannery row tour. It really made our trip more meaningful as we learnt about the fishing industry and Steinbecks characters. The hour seemed to go by so quickly as we listened to the stories. Its not necessary to read Steinbeck to enjoy the tour but it brought the book to life reading it after the tour.

Thom was a fantastic tour guide. As someone who has run a walking tour company myself for 20 years, I know an excellent guide when I see one. He was very knowledgeable, personable and really brought the story of Monterey to life. I recommend his tours to anyone who visits this beautiful city.

While our "significant others" were out playing golf -- my friend and I decided to do something a little different - since this was our 3rd trip to the area in a year. Tom our Guide was great... He knows his Monterey history - and California history (that I'm sure I was told in school -- so many years ago...).... More

Monterey is an easily laid-out city for a three-hour walking tour. Park your jalopy in the lot on the waterfront near Fisherman's Wharf and amble to Custom House Plaza, which stands next door to the oldest government building in California. Theres two museums, the Monterey and the Pacific, will flesh out the history of the city's past and its American... More

My family and I booked Thom for a whole day tour of Monterey, Carmel, Pebble Beach and down to the northern coast of Big Sur to Bixby Bridge. The area was very very picturesque - like something out of a storybook. Pristine beaches, rocky coastlines, and beautiful missions. I love the fairytale houses and so many flowers! Special mention goes... More
