The 2 hour walking tour was a very informative journey with stories about the history of Monterey brought to life by Thom. The walk seemed well paced for all ages with stops at the buildings and murals of interest along the way. The passion Thom has for the history and city of Monterey is evident and makes for an enjoyable... More

After reading reviews on TripAdvisor and Yelp, we purchased a certificate for this wonderful tour. Our spring break vacation in Monterey was shadowed due to the pouring rain. But Thom was kind, professional and a wonderful trooper for giving us this exciting and educating tour under the rain. It is very obvious that he has a love for the area... More

Once we met Thom at the fountain of the Portola Hotel, we felt like friends. He encouraged us to bring water or another beverage, which can be bought at Starbucks across the street. (Yes, walking shoes are a must! Maybe a hat. too.) Thom's historical tour of downtown Monterey is well-planned with a few sitting stops in addition to lots... More

Walking tours are a great way to learn about a place you are visiting and Thom of Monterey Walking Tours does a great job. We had a specific interest in the Cannery Row of John Steinbeck's era and Thom worked his knowledge of Steinbeck into a fascinating history of the Monterey area. Very nicely done and well worth taking. More

Thom was a knowledgeable and entertaining guide and my weekend visit to Monterey was enhanced by the perspective I gained on his tours. There are actually two tours. I took the first one in the morning which featured the downtown area and early history of California. Then, in the afternoon I took another tour which featured Cannery Row. Be sure... More

I have recently moved to Monterey. The city has amazing history that most tourists miss. The guide Thom was very informed on the history. Monterey was the first capital of CA.. Thom covered the Native American, Spanish, Mexican, Californio, and American history of Monterey. I live around the corner from Colton Hall. Almost every day I watch the sun set... More

Excellent tour! Thom was very engaging and knowledgeable about Monterey history, and it was fun to walk around Monterey to see historical buildings and hear the history. I would recommend this tour to the young and old. More

Being a native Californian I had no idea of the importance of Monterey to our California history. Walking by buildings I have driven by for years and learning the history of them was eye opening. Thom is an excellent guide and the pace never lagged. Two hours passed like twenty minutes! I will recommend his tour to any of my... More
