Whether you are a complete novice trying sailing for the first time, or an experienced ocean veteran ready to take your seamanship to a higher level, we offer American Sailing Association (ASA) classes taught to your skill level. Monterey Sailing Monterey Bay Sailing is a professional sailing organization established in 1998 whose mission is to offer residents of the Monterey Peninsula communities and visitors an affordable opportunity to sail the central coast. Marine mammals seen frequently include grey, blue and humpback whales who blow, or breach as they migrate with their calves. Sea otters, dolphin and vocal sea lions enjoy one of the most pristine areas of the entire Pacific. On cruises, all sailors are offered a chance to take the helm and discover the grace and beauty of a boat under sail. Choose a captained cruise for a more relaxing voyage in the world's second largest marine sanctuary. Cruises are safe, affordable, family fun for all ages. For sailors who want to become active in the sport, a membership in Monterey Bay Sailing Club reduces the cost of certification courses and bareboat rentals by 50 - 70%. Bareboat rentals are available for non-members who are certified and qualified to bareboat. The Monterey Bay Sailing fleet offers a selection of boats suited to the local conditions. The local conditions are a sailors paradise. Typically, 345 plus days of good to excellent sailing conditions predominate annually. The prevailing west to northwest wind ranges predictably from 8-15 knots. The ASA sailing school is instructed by professional sailors with decades of experience. ASA certifications are valid for life and recognized internationally. We are dedicated to teaching safety and seamanship and give you the confidence to fulfill your sailing goals and dreams.

We had a fantastic afternoon sail. We went on the 2 hour sail. My husband was at the helm for part of the sail. Dutch, the captain, let us participate in the sail and was good giving instructions. We saw quite a few whales. A couple of them swam along near the boat for about 20 minutes. I will definitely... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon sail! The weather was sunny and there were sea lions leaping out of the water out in the bay. In the harbor, a family of sea otters were rolling around, the little ones knocking the others off their parent's stomachs and making sweet squeaking protests. Dutch is knowledgeable about the area and offered many interesting... More

I bought a one hour trip as a part of my boyfriends Christmas present and he ABSOLUTELY LOVED it! It was a beautiful sunny day PERFECT for sailing! It was the greatest time. We ended up having the whole boat to ourselves so that was really nice. The staff was EXTREMELY friendly the whole time. We cannot wait to go... More

We were greeted warmly by skipper Randy. Boat was smaller than we were expecting, but there was only 3 couples and 2 crew men. The conversation was plentiful and we had a good time

we were going for the two hour option and when our group of four arrived at 10:45, we noticed that was the exact time of the next sailing - but nobody was ready to take us. Apparently the skipper was 30 minutes away and so after a few phone calls, the owner asked if Floyd would drop everything and take... More

We found Monterey Bay Sailing a number of years back, and go back for a sail every time were are in Monterey. Dutch, who runs the company, and his staff ,know the sea, know how to sail, and provide an experience that is worth every penny you pay. My wife is a sailor and since she demonstrated her skills Dutch... More

Dutch is running the perfect business. Dog friendly, knowledgeable and fun. I felt very safe on his very clean boat. You must go sailing with Dutch and crew!

Boat wasn't anything fancy, dinner was a simple salmon and salad and there was a snack earlier, grapes cheese & crackers. Complimentary wine comes in a plastic cup. But the sail trip it self was nice. Enjoyed the waves and the sunset. Overall I felt like the dinner option was overpriced. Just the cruise would have been enough.

My husband and I went on the sailing tour end of September. The trip was well worth the money and the captain was very informative of the area. I would choose them again for my next trip. Well done Captain.

Beautiful light wind day.Just us and 1 other couple on the 32ft sloop. Became apparent very quickly that Captain Dutch doesn't really like his job as a charter boat owner. Every question we had was replied with a condescending, sardonic answer that could only leave an awkward silence. Perhaps the repetitive nature of tourist banter is just more than Dutch... More
