Whether you are a complete novice trying sailing for the first time, or an experienced ocean veteran ready to take your seamanship to a higher level, we offer American Sailing Association (ASA) classes taught to your skill level. Monterey Sailing Monterey Bay Sailing is a professional sailing organization established in 1998 whose mission is to offer residents of the Monterey Peninsula communities and visitors an affordable opportunity to sail the central coast. Marine mammals seen frequently include grey, blue and humpback whales who blow, or breach as they migrate with their calves. Sea otters, dolphin and vocal sea lions enjoy one of the most pristine areas of the entire Pacific. On cruises, all sailors are offered a chance to take the helm and discover the grace and beauty of a boat under sail. Choose a captained cruise for a more relaxing voyage in the world's second largest marine sanctuary. Cruises are safe, affordable, family fun for all ages. For sailors who want to become active in the sport, a membership in Monterey Bay Sailing Club reduces the cost of certification courses and bareboat rentals by 50 - 70%. Bareboat rentals are available for non-members who are certified and qualified to bareboat. The Monterey Bay Sailing fleet offers a selection of boats suited to the local conditions. The local conditions are a sailors paradise. Typically, 345 plus days of good to excellent sailing conditions predominate annually. The prevailing west to northwest wind ranges predictably from 8-15 knots. The ASA sailing school is instructed by professional sailors with decades of experience. ASA certifications are valid for life and recognized internationally. We are dedicated to teaching safety and seamanship and give you the confidence to fulfill your sailing goals and dreams. « less

We really loved sailing with Captain Cristian. The prices are affordable and he knows a lot about the history of the peninsula and he explains so easy how to sail. It is a great experience for first time sailors.

Wendy and I went out for a perfect sail with Dutch - exactly what we needed away from the world and the noise and the daily bustle. Beats being on a noisy, crowded motor boat any day. With some sailing experience, Dutch let me take the helm for most of the trip while he told us loads of factual information... More

I was scouring the map to choose something fun for my husband and I on our Honeymoon/vacation, I saw Monterey sailing and the ad said "Romantic Cruises". I made our reservation and when we got there Dutch was great, helped us on the sail boat, offered wine, and was full of fascinating information and stories! We will definitely do it... More

Wonderful time on the sea. I am disabled and Captain Dutch made me feel welcome and helped me get aboard. Originally booked a 2 hour sail, when we docked the wind came up stronger and went right back out again for another hour. My best friend got a sailing lesson and took the helm. Captain Dutch is friendly, knowledgeable and... More

My husband and I had a lovely time sailing around the Bay. My husband got a mini sailing lesson from Randy, who is a very experienced sailor with lots of great stories, and we got to enjoy the sea lions and sea otters! I also wasnt feeling great due to feeling a tiny bit seasick, and Randy was very accomodating... More

My wife and I missed out on a whale watching tour because of high swells and wind . Disappointed. So went walking on pier and we met Capt. Dutch. He said "want to go sailing? It's great weather for sailing." He saved the trip to the pier. Very professional. Told us all about the wild life and the history of... More

I highly recommend this tour. The staff are wonderful, interesting people who have a lot of knowledge to share in regards to the Monterey coastal area. They do everything they can to ensure that your party is comfortable and getting the full value of the sail. Sailing along the Monterey coastline is peaceful and breathtaking. Spend the money. It is... More

My cousin came from Oklahoma for my birthday and wanted to do one of her 'bucket list' items which was to sail on the ocean. Our voyage was wonderful and peaceful. Our captain, 'Dutch' was subperb. We highly recommend this adventure to everyone. A great day and a terrific value.

This was definitely the best experience we have had on the water in Monterey. If you have experienced the whale watching and harbor tours aboard the large diesel burning boats you should try sailing. It is different, quiet, peaceful and the only thing you smell is the sea. Captain Dutch took us to dolphins, otter, sea lions and even a... More
