Whether you are a complete novice trying sailing for the first time, or an experienced ocean veteran ready to take your seamanship to a higher level, we offer American Sailing Association (ASA) classes taught to your skill level. Monterey Sailing Monterey Bay Sailing is a professional sailing organization established in 1998 whose mission is to offer residents of the Monterey Peninsula communities and visitors an affordable opportunity to sail the central coast. Marine mammals seen frequently include grey, blue and humpback whales who blow, or breach as they migrate with their calves. Sea otters, dolphin and vocal sea lions enjoy one of the most pristine areas of the entire Pacific. On cruises, all sailors are offered a chance to take the helm and discover the grace and beauty of a boat under sail. Choose a captained cruise for a more relaxing voyage in the world's second largest marine sanctuary. Cruises are safe, affordable, family fun for all ages. For sailors who want to become active in the sport, a membership in Monterey Bay Sailing Club reduces the cost of certification courses and bareboat rentals by 50 - 70%. Bareboat rentals are available for non-members who are certified and qualified to bareboat. The Monterey Bay Sailing fleet offers a selection of boats suited to the local conditions. The local conditions are a sailors paradise. Typically, 345 plus days of good to excellent sailing conditions predominate annually. The prevailing west to northwest wind ranges predictably from 8-15 knots. The ASA sailing school is instructed by professional sailors with decades of experience. ASA certifications are valid for life and recognized internationally. We are dedicated to teaching safety and seamanship and give you the confidence to fulfill your sailing goals and dreams. « less

We enjoyed a late morning one hour sail and brought along our first time sailors, my niece and nephew. It was great to be on the water....enjoyed the coastline views. Appreciated the marine and geographical knowledge shared by our captain. While it seemed to end to soon it was a perfect outing with two small kids and gave us up... More

This is a fantastic course to give you the rudimentary principals of sailing and some first hand experience behind the Helm. Our teacher was an excellent, low key, full of stories, laid back teacher. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to dabble in sailing or has any interest in getting your complete certification to charter boats by yourself.... More

We had a great sail out in the Monterey Bay this past weekend with Monterey Bay Sailing. Our captain, Dutch, was very knowledgeable and pointed out interesting things about the bay. The boat was beautiful and had a great little perch seat at the bow. I highly recommend sitting on the perch; it was so peaceful and beautiful. We passed... More

It was a great sail with nice appetizers and wine on board. It's a much more personalized approach than all the other offers in the area! I definitely recommend it!

Booked a two-hour private evening sail with Dutch - nothing short of fantastic! This was our second time boating in Monterey Bay, but our first time sailing. If you want to get up close and personal with the beauty of Monterey Bay, sailing is the way to go. Dutch was a gracious host, a seasoned professional sailor and extremely knowledgeable... More

I had a wonderful time, took the morning trip and avoided the whale watching cruises that were packed with people. This is quite, enjoyable and Capt Dutch was very knowledgeable. Wish that I had time for one of the longer sails.

I took my wife and 3 young children (9, 6 & 3yrs) on an hour long sail with Monterey Bay Sailing to see the bay and any marine life we came across. It was a lovely sail with and a great way to see the bay, being so close to the water and no diesel fumes, much better than the... More
