Sail with confidence on world famous Monterey Bay. Monterey hosts the most bio-dense and bio-diverse ecosystem on the U.S. Pacific coast. Whether you are a complete novice trying sailing for the first time, or an experienced ocean veteran ready to take your seamanship to a higher level, we offer American Sailing Association (ASA) classes taught to your skill level. Monterey Sailing

Monterey Bay Sailing is a professional sailing organization established in 1998 whose mission is to offer residents of the Monterey Peninsula communities and visitors an affordable opportunity to sail the central coast. Marine mammals seen frequently include grey, blue and humpback whales who blow, or breach as they migrate with their calves. Sea otters, dolphin and vocal sea lions enjoy one of the most pristine areas of the entire Pacific. On cruises, all sailors are offered a chance to take the helm and discover the grace and beauty of a boat under sail.

Choose a captained cruise for a more relaxing voyage in the world's second largest marine sanctuary. Cruises are safe, affordable, family fun for all ages. For sailors who want to become active in the sport, a membership in Monterey Bay Sailing Club reduces the cost of certification courses and bareboat rentals by 50 - 70%. Bareboat rentals are available for non-members who are certified and qualified to bareboat. The Monterey Bay Sailing fleet offers a selection of boats suited to the local conditions.

The local conditions are a sailors paradise. Typically, 345 plus days of good to excellent sailing conditions predominate annually. The prevailing west to northwest wind ranges predictably from 8-15 knots. The ASA sailing school is instructed by professional sailors with decades of experience. ASA certifications are valid for life and recognized internationally. We are dedicated to teaching safety and seamanship and give you the confidence to fulfill your sailing goals and dreams.

Our private wedding cruise was made most memorable by Captain Dutch, who was friendly, personable and added a serene and positive energy to our momentous occasion. To add to that, when our photographer became sea sick, Captain Dutch took the wheel and her camera and delivered a handful of the best photos from our wedding ceremony on his sailboat! Thank... Great captain and boat with wine. Not fancy but a true ocean sailing experience on a 32 ft sail boat in a relatively sheltered setting.

We really hadn't planned on a bay cruise but decided it sounded fun so we signed up and headed out. Best afternoon we have had in a long time. Great sailing with a knowledgable Captain. Very informative and lots of sea life about. Glad we went and would go again when back in the area!!

We headed back to Monterey after our Whale watching boat at Moss Landing cancelled due to rough waters. Whilst walking on Fishermans Wharf, a little disappointed that we didn't get to go out we were approached by the captain of Monterey Bay Sailing who asked if we wanted to go out for their sunset cruise. We asked a few questions... More

i love sailing, I thought about this tour over the Labor Day weekend. However when I say 8 people on a 6 pack boat (6 passengers MAX) I thought nope!!!!! Went out on the Glass Bottom Boat instead! 👍 saw Bella on the Bay's sailboat while we were out. Made reservations there! 👍 P.S. I'm a Coast Guard inspector, I'll... More

My family of 4 (2 girls ages 11 and 8 and my husband) all had a fabulous time aboard their sailboat. We are so glad we went! We lucked out and saw all kinds of mammals - dolphins, seals, sea otters and a humpback whale on our way back to the dock. Seeing the whale was definitely the highlight for... More

Enjoyed our sailing experience, didn't see whales or dolphins, but still enjoyed being on the water in a sailboat. Unfortunately, our daughter got seasick and barfed, luckily the captain had a bag and cup handy (I'm sure it happens a lot!) and he was very nice about it. We did a 2 hour excursion, I would recommend an hour-especially with... More

We took a late morning tour (2 hrs) with our two teens. The weather was great and we had a great sailing experience. My daughter was a bit scared at first, but our experienced captain made us all feel safe. Half way through the trip, my daughter was at the front of the boat, feet hanging over the water, yelling:... Booked a sunset/ appetizer cruise while in Monterey and thoroughly enjoyed it. The weather didn't cooperate (was a bit chilly and overcast so no sunset;) but our captain kept us entertained and made it a great experience. If you enjoy the open water and are in Monterey, I wouldn't hesitate to book a trip.
