We liked the drive and thought it was lovely to see the fawn (deer?) roaming freely in the area but we were a bit shocked that we had to pay to drive through it. 10 dollars just to drive around an area without being given any real guides/maps is strange. Maybe they could handout a map with interesting facts and... More

This drive along the coast takes you through Pacific Grove, Carmel-by-the-Sea, and Monterey. On the route, you will see up close, several beautiful golf holes on at least three different courses, including Pebble Beach. The neighborhoods include unbelievable mansions and estates, many of which you can see from the road. Breath-taking views at every turn!

What's not to like about the 17-mile drive? The $10 entrance fee is the only thing. What's the deal with that? Do the multi millionaires that live there really need the $10 fee per car? Does it help pay their gardener and cooks wages? End of rant. The drive itself is amazing. Obviously a world-class drive and view points. Stopping... More

one of the Nations most incredibly gorgeous drives. Stop and have a picnic, watch surfers at asilomar beach or spanish bay beach...see the view and eat at Spanish bay outside at sunset to hear the bagpiper, or Pebble beach for the view

We hadn't been on the 17 mile drive for over 25 years, but nothing much has changed. The views are absolutely stunning and there are lots of pull-outs to stop at and enjoy the scenery. The portion from Pacific Grove to Carmel Gate is the most beautiful and at only $10, this has to be one of the world's great... More

Paying a fee to drive on a "public" route, creeping traffic, very limited stopping options, no-trespassing everywhere. Give me a break. Instead, visit the spectacular waterfront cliffs and wildlife of Pacific Grove, about 5 minute drive west - look for Ocean View Blvd and Sunset Drive. Parking is FREE, and even on a busy weekend, there were plenty of open... More

We travelled by coach from Monterey to Carmel by the Sea through Pacific Grove and along 17 Mile Drive. The route is very scenic and you get a glimpse of some spectacular houses.
