My friends and I loved the 17 Mile Drive on our recent roadtrip from San Francisco to Los Angeles. It is a very beautiful stretch of coast. Some other reviews will say that it is not different from Highway 1 and therefore not worth the money, but I would disagree. We also drove Highway 1 and it is lovely, but... More

You can't visit Carmel/Monterey and not do this drive: spectacular! The scenery is great; the houses are mind boggling.

Some of the scenic views along this 17 mile stretch are beyond words. Be sure to allow time to stop at the many lookout points and truly take it all in.

The drive is basically nice but costs $10 (it's a private road). The views are not as good as free portions of the coast highway. Stop 10 provided a great place to see a large group of sea lions. Other than that the road weaves through expensive neighborhoods, golf courses and lots of "no trespassing" signs. Perhaps worth doing once... More

We were doing the drive down Highway #1 and had left Santa Cruz heading for Carmel and had seen signs for the 17 Mile drive, yes you have to pay $10 but it is well worth it as the views are incredible. There are lots of places to stop and nobody drives fast so you go at a leisurely pace.... More

It is $10 for entry and worth every penny! A map with places of interest guides you through the drive. Allow a couple of hours and don't forget the camera. Many restaurants in the area honor the receipt for entry and offer $10 off your restaurant purchase. It's worth asking!

Eating a delicious lunch at Cliff House was cooked to perfection and the service was great. Would love to go back with friends to enjoy another delicious meal.

A beautiful drive that we loved. The hotel's and golf courses are way too posh for us, but we enjoyed stopping along the drive at the various sites. Also, the toll keeps out a ton of people! Take your time, so everywhere, and relax.

Keep in mind the last car is allowed in at 6:15. Perfect to catch the sunset. 10$ to make the drive. If you stop at any restaurant in Pebble Beach, you get 10$ off your bill. Take half the loop and go out to visit Carmel or Monterey depending on your direction. There are many pull offs to enjoy the... More

It is a nice drive with a couple of impressive overlooks. I liked the one with all the sea lions a lot. BUT if you plan on driving down Pacific Coast Highway I think there is no need to take the 17-Mile-Drive. The drive down Highway #1 was way more impressive. Also, if you go to Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey... More
