beautiful drive!

We enjoyed the 17 mile drive and stopped at about 6 stops. We loved seeing the otters and seals as well as the beautiful scenery.

I wouldn't necessarily make this drive more than once, but it's definitely worth it that one special time. You have a chance to see all the different sides of the Monterey Bay area, from the spectacular scenery, the sparkling ocean, famous golf courses, stately homes, twisted Monterey Pines, and ever-changing landscapes.

Over the past 39 years we've lived on, traveled over and picnicked from the 17 Mile Drive in Pebble Beach. We've even ventured into the water a few times. Brrrr! There is so much to see and enjoy...sea birds, sea lions, seals, deer on the golf courses (especially on the Cypress Point and the Monterey Peninsula Country Club courses). There... More

A great day out. 17-Mile Drive is a great location to spend a day with the family. Spanish Point is one of my favorite locations.

The views are absolutely gorgeous. I was surprised you need to pay $10.00 at a gate to drive the 17 miles however it was worth it. You can bike it but motorcycles are not allowed. They give you a map to signify the touristy things to see. It's worth stopping a taking pictures. If you do stop along the way... More

Love, love, love this scenic drive. I've been on it more than once and will do it again. There are many places to stop and get out of your car. At Bird Island they have the telescopes to see the wild life more clearly. I put my camera up to it and got fantastic close ups of Sea Lions and... More

maybe it was because we had seen such raw beauty in Big Sur and walking around Carmel is just so charming but we were so unimpressed with the 17 mile drive. We honestly couldn't believe we paid $10 to see this. We didn't get it and wanted a refund... No worries, we didn't ask for one.

If you're in the Monterey area, make sure you stop by this area. The entrance toll is $10/car but it's sooo worth it! Make sure you stop by the Lone Cypress, Pebble Beach, and the various mansions around the coast!

I've done this a few times and have never been disappointed. Stop at Pebble Beach. Make sure you have reservations for lunch. The view of the golf course, club house, etc. The drive along 17-Mile is easy, nicely-paced, lots to see and a great view at every turn in the road.

The cost is minimal compared to the views. If you have the time to take a slow drive from Monterey to Carmel, don't miss the opportunity to do the 17 mile drive, the sights are wonderful. Be warned that the signposting is not great and its easy to miss the coast road and end up in the forest, its the... More
