What a nice drive. You will pass through wooded areas of very expensive houses and drive very close to the beautiful shoreline of Monterey Bay. Be sure to stop in the parking areas and get out or you will miss the abundance of wildlife both on the shore and in the water.

I was reluctant to pay the $10 for being able to use a road. But now, I totally understand. The road along the sea is great. You can park your car and walk along the water on small beaches, paths, etc... It is not crowded (probably because it is not free), well maintained. We've even been able to approach a... More

Great drive through all courses of Monterey. Spanish Hills, Spyglass and Pebble Beach. The ocean is right there and the homes are amazing. Many places to pull off the road for photos. The $10 charge is well worth it.

If you are near the Monterey Peninsula, do not miss taking the 17 Mile Drive. The views are stunning, and the guide book outlines the many stops along the way. There is a $10 fee, but I think it is worth every penny. We had not been on the peninsula in 43 years, and the beauty of the ocean was... More

A must do for any tourist. Beautiful views, numerous photo opportunities. $10 fee. Comes with a map that gives some history of the different stops. Highly recommend.

$10 entrance fee... when I last time visited the 17 mile drive (approx. 10 years ago) it was free. Guess there were too many tourists after that... ;-) best time: early in the morning = no traffic

Good thing there are plenty of pull offs to get out of the car to view the ocean because the road is narrow and twisty so the driver has very little opportunity to see much. As for 'seeing' the mansions of the wealthy, you only get a quick peek as there are no pull offs near any of these fabulous... More

We took the drive which was nice. It now costs $10. I think it worth doing the ride once. The houses were very nice but not fantastic for the toll road. I feel most people would enjoy the ride,we did but only once.
