Wow! Best park. There is a train for kids to play on. A climbing wall. Tunnels. Bridge. Roller slide. Hedge maze. Kids will never want to leave. The best part it's a public park & free. There a concession stand open sometimes & clean restroom. Parking can be tricky.

This park is a family favorite. We were disappointed to see that the the train was no longer for climbing as this was my son's favorite. The rest of the park was fun and great way to burn some energy after a long drive.

If you are staying in Monterey you have to take your kids here. Grab some sandwiches, make a picnic and let the kids go crazy. Suitable for ages 1-13 yrs. The play area is great for small kids and they have paddleboats which the older kids would enjoy

Nice public park for the kids - variety of play activities, nice that it is public and free. Our 5 year old grandson had a blast going from one climbing obstacle to the next, and played for well over 30 mins on his own... Monterey should be proud and lucky to have such a nice park free to the public...

What a fun Park! My 4 year old son loved it. There is lots to do...the park is so big! Plenty of street parking if the lot is full. Bathrooms too.

Kids playgrounds are mostly all the same - but this one was designed by Hank Ketcham, the creator of the Dennis the Menace comic strip (who lived in the area for many years before he passed away) to be different. There are hills to climb, a wobbling bridge, kid-sized tunnels - and on and on. Plenty of benches for parents... More

Clean, organized, good atmosphere. I recommend if you have kids up to 9 or they'll be bored quickly.

Our little one had a great time climbing, running, and playing at the park. However, there were a lot of families there and several parents seemed to not care whatsoever what their children were doing (cutting in lines, blocking slides, playing at the bottom of slides). This made things a little frustrating, but she had a great time, and it... More

This was always a highlight when my kids were young. It is now a perfect place to walk the dog, along the beautiful lake, and plenty of green grass. It is a little oasis near the beach and the Wharf.
