You have to make time to go to Old Fisherman's Wharf. The atmosphere is so incredible.. the fragrances/smells of the ocean, to see the locals working, to see the restaurants and shops on the water.. and just to walk the piers -- you won't want to leave.

A string of restaurants with somewhat overpriced food, combined with other touristy shops, made for a somewhat cheapened Monterey experience compared to the rest of the city and waterfront lodging and attractions. There are several good restaurants in town that offer much better overall dining experiences than the one we had on the wharf.

We went to the Wharf just for dinner at the Cafe Fina. Afterwards we had time for some shopping. Shops had pretty much the same items geared to the area.

Monterey pier or fishermans wharf is top notch! We far preferred to San Francisco's Pier 39 and Santa Monica's pier. Though it is full of tourist shops it still had that olde worlde feel, you can see the old beshelled wooden pier and imagine the fishing boats coming in. We loved it down there, had two lunches there having the... More

We LOVED the wharf! We found out that our 4 year old daughter loves clam chowder. She went from sample to sample up and down the wharf. The atmosphere was excellent, and the shops were fun. We have been to San Francisco to the wharf, and we enjoyed Monterey Bay Fisherman’s Wharf a lot more. SO glad that we stopped... More

Eclectic shops and restaurants, in addition to opportunities to go whale watching and fishing. Sea otters and sea lions are frequently seen swimming near the wharf. Carnival like feel walking through this area. Fun area to go wandering.

Lots a tourist places to visit in Monterey, this is one of them. It's very pretty and had lots of places to eat. However most of the restaurants serve the same thing for similar prices. When in doubt of where to eat, stick to yelp or trip advisor to avoid an over priced bland meal.

Just another Fisherman's Wharf. Expensive, noisy, not clean and actually another tourists trap. The # 1 and 101 roads are beautiful.

A fabulous place to view the sea creatures. Sea otters, seals, sea lions, dolphins, plus many sea birds. The embarcation stations for the whale watching tours too. Also along the Wharf are many bars, cafes, restaurants offering local specials and tasters of their delicious clam chowder. There a a few souvenir shops here too. A wonderful place.
