We walked to the end of the wharf and back, thinking we'd find someplace to eat, but everything seemed really dirty and unappetizing. I don't know what it was, but blech. I was just totally turned off by this place. We ended up walking just a few minutes up Alvarado Street to Cafe Trieste for pizza (YUM, worth the walk).... More

Yes we love sea lions! And the wharf didn't disappoint. There was one floating pier that was covered in sea lions! What a sight! And there were a bunch swimming in the water too! So fun to watch! Could have spent a lot of time here had the parking not been so expensive...

This Wharf is attractive. A really neat place to walk around and enjoy. Full of neat little shops and great fun restaurants. Some places are high dollar but worth it for some of the best food around. Water is attractive and the boaters will be playing. There appears to also be a kayak rental location near by.

The pier to the east is lovely ! We visited before 10 a.m., and we're lucky enough to see a lone bull seal sunning himself on the wooden slats. Also fish being dredged from the sea, covered with ice and loaded into lorries.

Went for a late afternoon walk on the wharf. We had dinner at one of the Italian/seafood restaurants on the wharf. It was a little touristy, but the food was good and we had a table with windows looking out on the water. Great seal watching on the wharf with a couple of opportunities to see them up close on... This is a very touristy spot, but well worth the stroll. Standing outside the candy shops is great fun - going in even more so. Lots to see and taste. However, liked the Coast Guard Pier more.

We like Old Fisherman's Wharf but there is a working part that is the real deal and much more interesting. If you visit the municipal pier on the East side of the marina from Old Fisherman's Wharf, you will see real fishing boats in action and there are even a few true fish markets with fresh and live fish for... Monterey and the wharf area in particular is a great place to visit but beware of the parking Weenie. This is a little man in his electric cart whizzing around making certain the slightest infraction get penalized. Apparently the City Of Monterey has jobbed out the parking fine business to a corporation in Inglewood, CA. So it is simply a... More

We like to eat a "progressive dinner" as we walk down the wharf. It feels like a day in another country. The wharf is technically a "tourist attraction" but all my local friends love to come here as well. Most, if not all, of the restaurants are owned by local families. I love going down first thing in the morning... More

Had a lovely time walking and finding places to shop and to dine. Will definitely go back if we are in the area again.
