Uglly and shabby. Go to the coast guard pier to see Sealions, go to Cannery row for a stroll and restaurants, go kayaking or biking on the recreational trail - just don't waste your time here.

If you like crowds, noise, tacky t-shirt and souvenir shops and average quality restaurants, this is the place for you. Hawkers yell at you to come in and eat at their overpriced restaurants, while beggars ask you for spare change. Do yourself a favor and skip it entirely - head to Cannery Row or the U.S.Coastguard wharf nearby. You can... More

Expected more from Monterey, average town and disappointing wharf. If your in the area try Carmel, beautiful town , lovely houses and restaurants with very scenic coastal drive.

We decided to take a trip into San Francisco for the day with stops in Chinatown and of course “Fisherman’s Wharf!” Of course, this being the perfect day to play “tourist” there must’ve been 200,000 other people here thinking the same thing! Our first stop is Chinatown. We usually park underground at the “Hilton,” 750 Kearny St. Parking here isn’t... More

The sights and sounds of Monterey's past will greet you, along with great seafood restaurants, unique gift shops and fish market. You can chose from fine dining to casual. Other activities include: whale watching, fishing trips and Monterey Bay sailing. Just have fun and enjoy the clam chowder samples. Parking will cost you so leave the car at the hotel... More

Brought our friends for the Chowder run on the wharf. Always a lot of fun. Sure it's touristy, but just have a good time. Soak in the atmosphere, don't expect too much, just have a good time.

The Fisherman's Wharf here in Monterey isn't as big as the one in San Francisco but it's a decent size. We went on a weekend so it was fairly crowded but we still enjoyed looking around and buying a few things.

Here's one of our stops on the cheap Monterey fam day (or date...for you CSUMBers. Stroll the wharf and casually look at the menu of all the restaurants. Listen to their pitch and let them offer you or ask for their sample of clam chowder. Make it a competition to determine the best CC on the wharf. Discuss the relative... More

We arrived in Monterey early evening, and strolled down here from the Monterey Hotel, for a lovely relaxing drink at the end of the pier. Loved all the little shops. We also went back in the early morning, and walked up to Cannery Row. Monterey is such a pretty place.
