There was too many people crowded on the warf to make it enjoyable for me. Many people were enjoying the sea lions. The restaurants were numerous.

The wharf is a great place to see otters, sea lions, and sea birds. Shops are nice as are restaurants. It is possible to book boat excursions and fishing trips there also. Only negative is paying to park.

Compare to Fisherman's Wharf of San Francisco, Old Fisherman's Wharf of Monterey Bay is not too crowded and not much tourist, so it was very relaxing here. You can find a lot of restaurants here, especially seafood restaurant and some interesting souvenir shop. A great place to enjoy your dining in a reasonable price with breathtaking view. The beach was... More

We enjoy going to Fisherman Wharf area for the views of Monterey Bay. Our favorite place to dine is at the end of the wharf area called Rappa's Seafood Restaurant. The views from that end of the wharf are breathtaking; there are sea lions at play, boats coming in and going out, kayaks gliding by, etc. If one does not... More

The wharf is huge. There are restaurants serving fresh seafood and passing out samples to tempt you to come into their place! There are also fresh seafood cups to go. The shops have lower prices for items then Cannery Row. You can also see seals perched on top of docks and buoys making lots of noise! Very cute! The whale... More

If you dislike the super tourists stuff with tons of people walking around than skip this. We walked around the area on our way to cannery row, just 30min to 1 hr is all you need. I would recommend food and drinks out at cannery row instead (also very touristy but better options).

but it's still worth visiting. Yes, of course you have to pay for parking as you do everywhere else. There are free clam chowder samples at almost every restaurant. If you walk to the Wharf #2 you can see more boats and sea lions, a few more restaurants and a nice sand beach. There is also a nice local market... More

This is my must-go place every time I visit Monterey. I miss its short, narrow, yet exciting walking street with over a dozen of seafood restaurants lining up on both sides until its end. Here I could have the best seafood in town. In my past March visit, I had tried a couple of free, tasty samples of clam chowder... More

A lot of beggars around. Very low level tourist stores and you have to pay to park. We stayed 5 mins.
