Old Fisherman's Wharf is just that. An old fisherman's wharf with seafood and souvenir shops lining up both sides. Upon arriving you will be greeted with restaurant staff giving out free clam chowder samplers for you to try. There are an abundance of restaurants on the wharf to also include whale watching tours, sea fishing and bay tours. There are... more

This is the center of Monterey for you to stop at. Meter Parking is adjacent, safe and ample. Many great restaurants both big and small offering seafood, Italian, and more. No choice is wrong, just choose which setting and type of food you prefer! Lunch prices are very affordable. Now that your stomach is all set check out the small... more

We loved the wharf because of the teeming wildlife. We heard the sea lions and went along to explore and the children spent hours watching them. Then came the sea otters - watch them dive and wait for them to reappear - great game for the children. Pelicans very majestic. Some criticism is the wharf is a dump - a... more

On a recent vacation, we stopped here for an hour or two. It's worth a quick stop if your passing through that way, but don't expect all day entertainment. You can stroll through the few cute little shops & get something to eat all within a couple of hours. Since not right in the hub of a busy city, we... more

We enjoyed a very fun time at the wharf this past Sat. We had lunch at Isabella's which was very good. We strolled the wharf enjoying the sea lions, sea gulls and pelicans. There are many boat trips that leave from the wharf. The Glass Bottom Boat trip is only $10 for a 25 minute cruise. There are also several... more

Having visited both Monterey’s and San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharves within a period of a few days, I would have to say I much preferred Monterey. While a good deal smaller than SF’s, it offers the same tourist shops, many activities (sea kayaking, whale watching, glass bottom boat rides among others) and less people. Most importantly in my opinion the food... more

We actually had a nice time strolling the wharf here at Monterey. No, its not as big as the one in SF, but then there isnt all the cheesy shop owners either. It is a small wharf, and a quick stroll in nice weather was pleasent for us. My husband thought he was at Costco, sampling all the clam chowder... more

Saw the reviews written by others. While they are largely factual, I couldn't agree less with the conclusions. This is truly a charming place. It is small, compared to SF, but it can boast of some of the best clam chowder anywhere (That's right, Boston, you have competition!) For the experienced traveler, you will enjoy the charming, rustic atmosphere. Go... more
