Garrapata was an amazing experience! The waves were big and there's no lifeguards, so you cant really go swimming, but it's so nice - the sand is soft and white, there is a cliff that you can climb to the top of, the beach isn't crowded, there's stairs leading down from the road, and its a great place to watch... AMAZING! Do I really need to say more? The ocean, the beach, the views! Only wish I would have stayed for sunset.

What else to say? You must go if you are close. As I have a baby I can tell you that there are no bathrooms and no shadows, so be carefull with the sun. Anyway It is just a great beach with a fantastic view and interesting waves. Don't miss it!

A great wild beach, windy, waves and a big stretch of sand. We really enjoyed this beach for its force of nature. Is cooler in the morning and warm in the afternoon even with the wind. Not a swimming or wading beach...too much rip current!

for the area this is a great beach. cannot compare to southern California, however, as the weather is usually cooler and mistier here.

We came here on 4th of July weekend. It was very quiet and clean and beautiful. Nice little areas close to rocks with shade. Beautiful white clean sand. Our 2yr old loved it. Great place to spend the day and have a picnic.

Someone recommended this beach to us. There was not crowds and it's a great beach for skim boarding. They also have fire pits. Very cool.

Gorgeous beach, good weather, no one there, waves were huge! It took a while to find the correct beach because of the turn-offs, but just look for the only piece of beach. :)

This beach is a must visit on the PCH. Most of the beaches in Big Sur are hard to find and reach but this one is right off the road. It's little before the Bixby Creek bridge and there's a board for directions. For those not fond of long treks, this really short and easy walk is perfect! Also don't... More
