Quiet beach - away from crowds

We got to the beach via a short walk down a trail. It was a very quiet beach. Water is choppy the two times we went (like at most Pacific Ocean beaches), so we did not swim.

We went to Garrapata Beach beginning of January 2016. The views are scenic. The pathway down to the beach is well maintained. One can also hike into the hills to 2000 foot level for more panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. The beach is south of Point Lobos State Reserve. There is a sign on the hill that says where... The view here is to die for! The beauty is unending here. No matter the weather it will always be great. My profile picture was taken here in 2013 and is still my favorite photo.

I know the drive is long and you keep getting in and out of your car but this stop is more than worth it.

Garbage everywhere. Disgusting. Horrible. Did not stay. We have to write one hundred characters or more and do not know what else to say except to not waster your time.

I received a ticket for being nude here. This may have been a nude beach back in the day, but not anymore. Go to Bonny Doon if you want to be left alone from Park Rangers with nothing else to do.

A free State park with a moderate nearly flat walk around the point and access to the beach. Stop at gate 8 for the walk around the point which is good for less than strenuous hikers. The beach access where the park sign is located has a few stairs but once on the beach the waves come in at great... More

We loved stopping at this beach. Its not a swimming beach, but a good place to see the ocean crashing onto the shore. There were some hiking trails but we only walked around the area near the stairs that let down to the beach. Refreshing stop!

A beautiful beach and there was hardly anyone there. You can't swim here because of the rip currents but it's a great place to hang out and walk. The surf and crashing waves are deafening and so powerful.

You could easily overlook this park as just another beach stop, but it is much more. There are numerous hiking trails that have gorgeous cliff top views of the coast, in addition to some benches on overlooks. The trails are mild, with a few sections that might make you have to stop to catch your breath, but overall very easy.
