For me, Monterey Bay is the best part of Monterey. You won't find a lot of swimmers; the bay is cold, and rough. You will find crashing waves on rugged rock formations, golden sunsets over Asilomar, and a stiff breeze, all inviting you to leave your car and take a brisk walk. Succumb. Walk. Breathe in that clean salt air.... More

It is only a two mile walk on the beach from the Beach Resort to Fishermans Wharf. To the north you can walk for miles, possibly all the way to Moss Landing, although we've never tried it.

Beautiful park at Lovers Point where we ate, walked, and enjoyed the scenery - close to Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf. Beautiful walking/biking path very close to the shore with lots of places where you could actually walk out onto the rocks for pictures.

Weather was outstanding and the sea life everywhere we looked. Seals, whales and pelicans abound, good for animal lovers.

The main wharf at Monterey Bay has plenty of places to eat and several gift shops. There are bars in the parking lot. The beach is nice however there were lots of sand flies which spoiled it for me. There is also a second wharf which has lots of fishing boats and you can buy fresh fish in the fish... More

This trip was so my daughter and my husband could go to the aquarium and to eat at Buba Gumps. I've been going there off and on my whole life (well almost) and never tire of that beautiful area. There are so many wonderful places to eat, lots of gift shops, if you are into shopping, and the bay itself.... More

Forget paying someone to listen to your problems for an hour! Take a trip to the coast to clear your mind! This is one of my favorite "recovery" spots. Fortunately, I only live a few hours away, and can visit in a day. I feel like someone pushed my "reset" button after a trip to Monterey!

We stayed at Monterey Hotel, it is a historic building. No elevator. Not easy to find a free parking.

Great town to visit - San Fran's smaller sister but less busy, beautiful seafront, wonderful views of dozens of seals on the beaches, lovely vibe and great buzz to the town. Nice walks in both directions along seafront. Wish I had longer than one night.
