The water and weather is beautiful. You can see sea lions, kayak, hang out on the beach and just have a great time. There are lots of restaurants you can choose from on the wharf and plenty of tourist shops to occupy your time.

Loved exploring the various beaches around the peninsula. Especially loved the sunsets off the coasts at Pacific Grove.

My favorite part of California....great beaches, marine life, and fabulous food. Not as busy and congested as other parts of the state....plenty of great restaurants plus natural wonders abound. Hike Big Sur or Point Lobos, be a tourist on Cannery Row or spend hours just walking the beach and watching the whales/dolphins/otters and more.

Cannery Row and the Wharf area are ratty and worn out. Everything is covered in seagull poop, and bad smells are inescapable. We escaped to Seaside and Sand City.

We are a family with 2 small children aged 2 & 4 and we loved it here. Many family friendly things to do including bike riding, beaches, and Denis Play Park. We had access to a car so we went over to A beach by Carmel River and had the best day out ; ) I highly recommend Monterey for... More

I've been walking the docks of the Monterey Bay for over 50 years. They have a special meaning to me and the beauty of it is that they haven't changed but for the better.

We rented bikes from fisherman's wharf and headed towards pebble beach and experienced the prettiest and most pleasant cycle of our lives - bear in mind we regularly cycle in the Rockies and this just blew it away. I would also highly recommend whale watching as we saw loads of hump backs breaching and tail up etc, quite the most... More

Love the bay. Harbor seals are always entertaining. None of the restaurants served clams, my husbands favorite, we did have good food on the pier.

This is probably one of the most photographed bays in the world, but it is amazing to see in person. We did the 17 mile drive and the bay was more beautiful around each turn. The 17 mile drive is probably the most concise route to take, if you're pressed for time. However, the bay is so pretty, it's worth... More

Very good aquarium with structured expositions. Jellyfishes absolutely outstanding, there is a few aquariums with them, including both large and very small. Aquarium with tunas, sharks, sardines also ablotue must-see. There is an open terrace where you can observe peninsula.
