What a gorgeous place to drive through. No wonder Californians try so hard to be conscious of the environment- with views like this you would want to preserve it for generations! More

They are everywhere. Check out "old" Monterey (near the aquarium) and fisherman's wharf. Lots of history and really a beautiful area. More

Lovely Bay, cool weather but refreshing. The whole place is obsessed with Steinbeck and dedicated to him, pretty much. A bit of a small town/Western/ and yes, Steinbecky feel to it. Cannery Row is a bunch of restaurants/attactions/shops, which culminates in great Aquarium. Would suggest restaurants off the main road. Fisherman's Wharf is a mini version of SF Wharf and... More

We only had about 36 hours in Monterey Bay but we're so glad we made the trip down from SF. We covered the aquarium, parts of Cannery Row, Old Fisherman's Wharf, and 17 Mile Drive. We would love to go back and see the rest. Some of the areas of VERY touristy but still worth the visit. More

I have flown from Honolulu and vacationed in Monterey (old fishing port first established by the Chinese immigrants) during May over the past three years. Nice old and scenic seaside fishing port, which is ideally situated to nearby areas of interest. Such as scenic drives down the coast and into the valleys and surrounding areas, to include other attractions. Enjoy... More
