Worth the $5.00 entrance fee. Saw many others park in the free parking at the gate but it's a long, long walk up the hill to the entrance. The ranger recommended the hikes to the right and he was rock on. Great views, fairly easy trails, and pleasant overall. Wish I had brought a picnic lunch as there were plenty... More

We hike in this delightful park every year on Christmas Day (when the park is officially closed, but still accessible by side trails that bypass the main gate). Well marked trails, some wide, some single track; a fair amount of elevation gain on some trails; and spectacular views through the trees of Monterey, Seaside, and the Monterey Bay.

This park has several levels of hiking trails with beautiful views. It was very clean and quiet, and not very many people there.

The views from the Skyline trail, although good, do not compare to the views from parks in Big Sur, and are often blocked by the trees - but the trees are good for the planet, so I'm not complaining. Watch out for dog poop on the trails - unfortunately people don't clean up after their pets! Lovely short hikes for... More

This is a great place to hike and when I was here a few years back, there wasn't a lot of other people around. Seems to be far enough away from town that it's not bogged down with tourists. Great sweeping views of Monterey Bay, Carmel Valley and beyond.

Great place in amongst the 1000 year old trees and brush. Several easy, midrange and hard trails for the average or pro hiker. You can take 1-2 miles or as much as 10. I suggest taking water and a snack for longer jaunts. They have bathrooms at the trail head and maps.

A nice forest walk with views overlooking Monterey. Not spectacular but still very pleasant and away from heavy tourist traffic.

I enjoy this place, I arrived and there was no one at the entry station, and I did not get a trail map which I would advise. Great trails, nothing to challenging, great views, and look forward to coming back.
