I wish we had spent more time here. We came here on our last day in Monterey so we were unable to explore as much as we would have liked. What we did get to see, we loved. A fun place to visit for sure.

A mishmash of touristy shops and eateries, the quality of the Cannery Row experience has declined over the years. It is worth a stroll after your visit to the Aquarium, but there is little reason to linger. Look for a spot with an ocean view for lunch or dinner - there are a few that are reasonable.

A great collection of eclectic, touristy and original stores. The atmosphere was great and, of course, the weather was perfect. However, I expected Cannery Row to be much bigger and extensive. All in all, you have to check this place out and make plans to grab a bite to eat at one of the many local eateries.

Extremely touristy- crowded- nothing overly outstanding - did enjoy the pier and history plaque reading - did enjoy the Trevis store immensely.

It's the centre of an old canning industry that is long gone. The road is now very commercial and most of the shops are full of tat. Can't imagine locals come here, apart to work and take the money from tourists. And, parking is quite expensive. I'll not be back, but I can't imagine the trader's will be too upset,... More

I know it's super touristy but you just have to go and experience it! The shops and the vibe are so great

Cannery Row, Monterey, CA - takes you back in time but offers all the amenities of today with shopping, restaurants and lots to see and do, including the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Read John Steinbeck's Cannery Row to get a feel for the past. There is a lot of history if you know where to look. There are many "public areas" between buildings to see the water and back parts of the old canneries. You can see the tanks at the back of Doc Ricketts' lab and holding tanks for sardines. The... We loved walking the shops of Cannery Row! This was much enhanced due to a car show and auction by all the expensive, rare cars parked up and down the streets. We bought some cool and unique gifts and all the store owners and employees were just as pleasant as could be. Highly recommended it you like unique shopping.
