Great historic area. Shops, aquarium and plenty of restaurants in the area. Parking is a challenge, but free parking is available on Lighthouse Rd. Just a short walk of about 6 blocks for free parking.

So much old and historical to see juxtaposed against modern buildings but it all works well and is very interesting. Made me want to learn more and I bought the 2 books John Steinbeck wrote. A glimpse back into more difficult times economically but in a beautiful place.

I had high expectations of here having read so much about it. Slightly disappointed as it seems to rely heavily on the Steinbeck connection. Don't get me wrong, the centre of the action is very neat and tidy and well presented, it just seemed to lack 'something'. The Acquarium is a big attraction, but unfortunately we arrived late and had... More

My husband and I walked through one evening, spent maybe half an hour. It was like any touristy place thorough the US - trinkets, t-shirts, chain restaurants and candy stores. Don't expect to spend a lot of time here.

alot of "junk shops" with over priced mechandise. a real tourist trap if you are not careful and don't shop around for similar items you might want to purchase.

It is nice and you can find shopping possibilities & restaurants, but I would say it is the same as any other tourist shopping street. Nothing special.

very nice ocean view, historic area, although somewhat touristy. Didn't have time for the wax museum, but it's only 9 bucks or so. You can actually wet your toe's in the water and explore some tidal rocks and watch the kelp and sea otters and such. Right next door is the aquarium, movie theaters and lots to do, restaurants and... More

We were very pleasantly surprised to find this area tastefully restored with themed stores that felt real and that they belonged there. Of all the seaside towns we have visited, this one stood out as one of the best.

Years ago, my husband and I visited Canary Row when on the West Coast. We were pleased to see the historical buildings and experience the ambience of what Steinbeck described in his book. This trip, some thirty years later, left us very disappointed. Canary Row has not only lost that special flare, but has become nothing more than a meaningless... More
