Nothing but a plain and simple tourist trap. Nothing but parking lots and over-priced stores. more

Special Note: There's a reason this area does not even rate in the top ten of things to do in Monterey. First off, you must get to Cannery Row to decide if you like it or not. Good luck. Every square inch of this place is parking metered or you must pay for all day parking - but even these... more

Cannery Row is great fun for the family day or night. Great views and cool people watching. There is a large assortment of eateries and novelty shops as well. There is a Starbucks! There is also a Chocolate Factory and Ice cream parlor. Live music at Sly McFlys is good as well. Bubba Gumps is a safe bet for an... more

We went to Cannery Row after spending the morning at the aquarium and going to the wharf for "chowder in a bread bowl". I must admit I was disappointed. It had a lot of construction going on and the street was in a general mess, but the shops weren't even fun to look in. I was very unimpressed, but, hey... more

This was touristy, crowded and overpriced. But what do you expect? Welcome to Cannery Row! We browsed the shops after the day at the aquarium, My teenager had a nice time looking around and the kids bought some things to take home. After a bit we went over to Hula's for dinner and I am on my way over there... more

Apart from the Aquarium which is great there is very little of note in Cannery Row. Junky tourist shops, overpriced restaurants serving dreadful food. Cannery Row has it cousins all over the country and if you've been to one of those tourist traps you've been to Cannery Row. Steinbeck would not recognize the place. Sad that such an historic part... more

Cannery Row is very touristy, but if you are like me and like tourist traps, then you'll love it! There are lots of shops to browse and buy souvenirs. There are restaurants all along the waterfront. It's really nice to just walk around. Don't just stay on Cannery Row. There are also restaurants and shops along Foam St. and Lighthouse... more

Monterey and cannery Row were part of a long trip with my wife through the California coast, and the most disappointing. It is just a line of restaurants and shops, very touristy in a not very special area as compared to pretty much everything else on the coast. The views are just OK, restaurants are again just OK and somewhat... more
