Lots of fun shops & restaurants

So much to see in a concentrated place. The shops have great bargains and cute things. The food places are varied so you will have lots of choices. Will be back again and again.

My wife and I visited here on a recent day trip to the Monterey area. Cannery Row is made famous in a John Steinbeck novel. Today it is largely an overcrowded tourist trap complete with many restaurants and souvenir clip joints. The views of the ocean here are terrific! You can also park along the Ocean drive at many points... More

Get there early. It gets very crowded. We got there at 7:00 on a Saturday night and couldn't find a parking spot. There are a lot of shops. Worth the trip if you get there early enough

We walked this area several times and took many photos of the seals and birds on the rocks as well as photos of the Steinbeck sculpture, a must for lovers of his books. We thought the whole area of Cannery Row was well done and we enjoyed learning more about the history. There are nice places to eat or just... More

If you go into aquarium you get a great history of Cannery Row. The Row itself is mostly full of the same ole' thing you can find in any mall in America. Mostly a waste of time.

They have done a good job of maintaining the history of Cannery Row without making it a tourist trap. There are some great restaurants and shops along with some of the typical tourist type junk. Just take the good with the bad and have a good time. There does appear to be a shortage of parking.

I'm glad I saw this since I was in Monterrey anyway but it's just a couple of blocks of restaurants and maybe a shop or two. I guess if you're a Steinbeck fan...

I remember coming here as a child (40 something years ago) and I miss the "old" Cannery Row. I miss that Pizza Parlour we used to call "Al Capone's", though I'm not sure that was the real name of it. The new Cannery Row is more like a small "Disneyland" for adults, mostly shops and restaurants. It's still lovely, though.... More

Soak up the atmosphere of this historic area - lovely walks in both directions along the coast. Only misses out on five stars because a few shops detract slightly but a lovely area to visit

This place is set up so tourists can learn a lot about the area while getting to see the old buildings. All the buildings have information about the area and what the building was used for.
