Cannary Row is interesting for the history and it's beautiful bay. There are restraunts, fast food, snacking and novelty shops. If you don't want to pay for over priced merchandise, keep looking around at all the stores that are there; they have a 'Five and Dime' store. Check online for calendar events that will be held at Cannery Row; it... More

Lots of little shops for buying souvenirs, food establishments from snack foods to full meals. Nice to walk around but somewhat pricey.

Cannery Row is full of tacky shops and cheap restaurants. The main draw to the area is the aquarium. We also had problems getting a cab back to our hotel.

As a tourist, I loved this place! Every shop, every restaurant, the water every where, the beachy area, the excitement, etc. If I were a local, I would still want to go there a couple times a month, if not more. You just can't go to Monterey and not end up at Cannery Row.

Yes, it's a tourist trap, not that much to do, but it's fun, feels safe & good restaurants. Some areas look as if they could be tidied up, but the main street was nicely done. It's worth taking the Recreation Path from Cannery Row to Monterey. We walked, but you could rent bikes.

Definitely a tourist trap, but it was fun to walk along the street people watching. Food and schlock shops make up the row but there is some interesting history to read about. If you don't like shopping, you can kill maybe 30 minutes.
