Lots of nice shops. Very crowded when we were there, we inadvertently choose spring break. Enjoyed the restaurants and the walking path behind the shops.

We had so much fun exploring all the shops that we went two days in a row! Loved the free samples of Ghirardelli chocolate! ! And I've been looking all over for a Dippin Dots root beer float, and finally found it here!! I loved the Hairy Otter stuff, and got some for my Harry Potter loving daughter. This is... More

Returning after a good number of years, it was clear that a lot of development had been put into this historic area. Unfortunately, much of it emphasized places with vastly overpriced goods - who knew a cookie could cost so much. Disappointing, except for the magnificent aquarium (very high entrance fee) at the end. A sad example of the California... More

Originally set out for the aquarium, but took a break for lunch. What a great place to roam! Ghirardelli chocolate, beach, bay views, lovely shops & restaurants. A great place to pass the day!

We took a walking tour with Tim who works out of Intercontinental Hotel. Very informative. We also rented a surrey bike. Lots of fun. Very crowded.

It's a bit cheapened and less than special with lots of t-shirt and souvenir stores. A far cry from the place that John Steinbeck wrote so affectionately about.

The history of Cannery Row is interestng, but the visit itself is disappointing. It reminded me of a cruise ship port of call: there are trinket shops and candy shops and a Del Sol. Spend an hour sightseeing here then load up and hit 17 Mile Drive.

Nothing can quite prepare you for the concentrated touristy feeling of today's Cannery Row. You will need to to search out the historic plaques and beach/pier areas between the t-shirt shops, candy stores and more. We put two hours on our meter and that was plenty of time to walk it back and forth. We didn't stop at the Aquarium... More

Cannery Row is great for tourists visiting the Monterey and Carmel area. It should be on your list of "go here, spend an hour or two." It has many shops on it, as well as many restaurants. The area is very historical, especially because of Steinbeck's novel. If you're expecting a quiet area, Cannery Row is not it. Especially in... More
