This aquarium is a beautiful and well laid out exposition of sea life. Salt water creatures that inhabit the depths of the Pacific Ocean, to the fresh water creatures that exist in the bay. While in this area be sure to make a stop to this wonderful aquarium. Return? Yes Recommend? Yes.

Visited with a group of 16 people and everyone was in agreement... Still the best aquarium ever! Loved the jellyfish, and kelp forest tanks. Great place for kids to go, soooo many hands on displays and fun play areas. Check the website for feeding times for certain tanks really fun to watch the reactions! Get here early and spend the... One of the best, if not THE BEST place to learn about ocean life anywhere. I especially enjoyed the "Behind the Scenes" tour.

this is a magnificent institution. There are not trick/shows. There are just fish (ok -except for the penguins) which are in a native habitat - all based on the Monterey bay. Beautiful. Best for school age kids although I have taken toddlers with patience who really enjoyed it. Really not to be missed.

If you go early you can beat the crowds. After 12 on a sat it was really busy with families as you would expect. Plan to spend at least 2 hours. Not as many exhibits as I expected, but still really cool.

Monterey has a world-class aquarium. What more is there to say. It's really spectacular. Took a tour to see the workings of the facility and also saw the albatross do her tricks. Very much enjoyed the two jellyfish exhibits they have going on right now. Beautiful and mysterious.

We went in expecting to spend a few hours but instead were there for 7! The exhibits are wonderfully maintained with very clear glass, great for photos, especially of the jellyfish. If you have a telephoto lens bring it because you can get some great shots of the sea otters in the wild from the viewing station. The provide binoculars... More

This place is a mess. People sticking their hands where they shouldn't be. Staff not knowing what doors to let people enter or exit through. What a mess. Back in the day you could come here and learn something. Today they over charge and let people do whatever they want. There are signs everywhere stating no flash photography... it's harmful... More

One of the best aquariums in the US. The penguin exhibit was closed that week for upgrades. My only disappointment. I would recommend a weekday visit, after being there on a Saturday and needing much more time to navigate through the crowd. The ticket line was quite long. If you buy your tickets online or at a discount outlet you... More

There is nothing I can say about this place that has not already been said. It is easy to just loose yourself and become mesmerized at the well designed exhibits. And I always learn something new before I leave. During my visit on 11/14, they created a 1960's theme Jelly exhibit, What a crack up. I had fun. I will... More
