A bit on the pricey side, but some of the best viewings of a wide variety of sea animals and creatures. Definitely recommend seeing the feedings (we saw the sea otter and the open ocean) because you can see the animals at their liveliest. They also have a very informative and friendly speaker at the feedings. Would advise arriving at... More

We planned ahead and purchased discount tickets at our car insurance company's office. This shaved off a couple dollars off each ticket. Our family includes myself, husband and our little 7 year old son. I had read online that the best time to come (when crowds taper off is a bit after 2pm). I also read it takes about 2-3... More

We took our daughter at 26 mnths because of all the hoopla about this place. At the age my daughter is,this place was as good for them as any other. Considering the high entrance fee and parking costs etc, I recommend saving this for an educational visit when kids get older, understand more and have better attention span. Completely skippable... We live in the SF bay area and our grandchildren (ages 3 & 4) were visiting us from New Mexico. We decided to take the 2-1/2 hour ride down to Monterey to take them to the Aquarium. I personally love this Aquarium and have been several times myself, but I have never taken a child or seen it thru their... More

We have been to many aquariums and feel that Monterey Bay ranks as one of the best! Loved how natural the exhibits are and that the auditorium shows had presenters. We also did the shark tour before the aquarium opened and it was a wonderful experience. Would highly recommend booking one of the private tours.

This aquarium is truly magical. It is so enticing and captivating in a way other aquariums are not. It is beautifully maintained, the creatures there look healthy and happy, and the staff are very polite and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone with a slight interest in what is in the ocean and in particular how was can save... More

A few years back, I was lucky enough to attend a small private function at this aquarium, and I found it life changing. Fantastic wildlife - sea otters, sharks, octopus all interestingly displayed. The jelly fish display actually steals the show with an other-worldly lighting arrangement. I recently took my family back on a Sunday afternoon to recreate the experience... More

We arrived at the aquarium at 2:45 on a Thursday afternoon, not expecting the place to be jam-packed. But it was, and it made seeing some of the exhibits very difficult. There were lines for almost every interactive activity my daughter wanted to check out. We really enjoyed The Jellies Experience and the Tentacles exhibit, and standing on the back... More

There is something for everyone. Families are most welcome and bring the stroller as stroller parking is available at all displays. There are different areas for each age group and I mean even the little ones. The 'hands on' displays with the volunteers giving information at the children's level is excellent. One caveat is that you can purchase a ticket... More
