Was well worth the half hour I was there. A guide showed me the court room, the two little rooms the District Attorney had, the county treasurer's office. That had two big safes. Was told the biggest one was added after a robbery. Was told how they got it upstairs. Smal gift shop that sold mostly books of county history.... More

The original Merced County Courthouse towers over 2 of the main streets that connect with it, M and 21st Street. It dates back 150 years and is a well preserved landmark worth visited. Since my family goes back almost 100 years in this community, it was pleasure dealing with the staff to preserve family photos. One of THE places to... More

The courthouse museum is very pretty in the centre of the otherwise quite normal American town of Merced. Worth a quick stop on your way from San Francisco to Yosemite!

One could tell that this museum has been lovingly cared for by several citizens of Merced. Everything was carefully cared for and preserved as much as possible. The only thing I would want to point out is when deciding to visit the Courthouse Museum that the public be made aware that the first entrance to the museum is a rather... More

The Museum has great permanent exhibits, but also has rotating exhibits that are extremely well presented. Well worth a visit.

The courthouse is a favorite place of my 8-year-old son's. We can spend a fun afternoon exploring the displays, talking with the knowledgable volunteers, and then hit the county library, which is right next door. If you haven't visited the courthouse during the holidays, you're really missing out! There are decorated trees in every room - it's guaranteed to make you... More

This museum is in the center of town. Built in the 19th century it still has it's charm. Staff is wonderful and helpful. Only open from Wednesdays to Sundays from one to four. It can take you an hour to walk and look at both floors. It's a nice little museum in the center of the center valley. If on... More

This tall, white, ornate courthouse is lit at night and is truly a beautiful site. Many community event are held on the lawn. There are some homeless persons at the park there, but not a problem.

This historical courthouse is well preserved and is set in a nice green park. The courthouse will remind you of a wedding cake and is so pretty lit up at night. I believe in the 70s they still had some court proceedings here. Now there is a mixture of permanent displays and temporary exhibitions that are nicely curated. The upper... More
