Watch out for the Tide! Carry a flashlight! Close the gate on your way out. Our photos showed a Fishing Boat anchored in the small bay - undiscernable on the spot.

Easy parking. Long shlep to the lighthouse, but a terrific hike. View is spectacular, exhibits quite interesting, and staff friendly. Not quite as magical as Point Arena, but a significant and memorable part of Mendocino Wonderland.

Many have commented on this nice hike. It's 1.6 miles up a gently inclining, mostly double-wide, occasionally paved trail (old logging road, really); then another .7 miles of single track, stairs, and occasionally steeper incline to get to the waterfall. If that's too short, you can take the long way to the waterfall (over 2 miles each way); or split... More

Just loved the sense of exhilaration standing at the edge of the cliffs and looking at the waves pounding the rocks. The vivid colors of the ocean on a clear day was picturesque and seeing in the distance your own holiday home perched on a cliff was romantic.

Never quite made it as far as the waterfall since the distance was longer and steeper than we expected. No views of ocean on waterfall trail but a lush, wide path with friendly joggers and hikers

We took the simple Fern Gulch trail ~2.5 miles each way to the waterfall. All but .7 miles of it is basically paved and an easy walk, the last .7 miles is steep and narrow at points but still very easy to accomplish. The waterfall was pretty and the hike didn't take very long. If you are in the area... More

Although the 'waterfall' is more of a cascade, the walk is easy and scenic. From where we parked our car it was a casual 60 min walk to a point where you could choose the short or longer trail to the waterfall. We took the short walk which was 20 minutes and did include some steps. At the waterfall there... More

Russian gulch was absolutely beautiful, we hiked to the waterfall and back about 6 easy miles. So green, looked like a great place to camp. Must come back!
