Great winding road up from Los Gatos to the park (about 20 min from Los Gatos). Parking is $8 but looks like you can park right outside the lot for free. Restroom was horrible. The hike itself was wonderful. Go on a sunny day though, so you can see the views. There are two trails: Saratoga gap trail and Ridge... More

This is right in my backyard and I've never gone. Anyhoos, went yesterday with the outfitter Adventure Out to do real rock climbing. This was a real blast! Made possible by our two super cool, and funny climbing guides, Riley and Jack. The rocks and boulders at Castle Rock are awesome. We've barely scratched the surface of this area. Just... More

There is a very popular hike that goes to a cave-type bunch of rocks. It is great for kids because it is not too difficult, kinda like a giant junglegym, but is unusual enough to make an adult curious as to how it was formed. And best of all, you can climb on it!

We took little kids and did the .3 mile hike to Castle Rock. It was an easy hike and we even had a stroller. The kids and adults loved climbing around the rocks and watching the rock climbers.

Whenever I have guests coming through the area, I always bring them here because I think it really shows off the beauty of California's nature. We always stop by the rocks under Goat Rock to admire the park. Make sure to leave time for photo taking because the trail has really interesting formations!

We like to go to Castle Rock State Park and do hiking there. There is over 32 miles of hiking and horse back riding trails. The park is pretty with redwoods, Douglas-fir, and madrone. There are steep canyons with unusual rock formations. These rock formations are very popular with rock climbers. We enjoy watching them do their climbs.

Tired of visiting city parks in the San Jose area, my wife and I had an excursion to Castle Rock State Park located in Los Gatos, about 30 miles from where we stayed in Sunnyvale of the Silicon Valley. Driving in the zigzag way full of woods and by cliffs in the mist of the Los Gatos Mountain is already... More

This park has great hikes and rock climbing. Camping here is not the best as the grounds are exposed. Find a campground elsewhere and just drive to the park.

I lived here in these mountains for most of my life. It is truly a beautiful place. It's nice to come out for a walk any time of year. Plenty of green, trees, and boulders. It is a nice getaway close to town.

Great loop hike from the parking lot to the campground and back. In warm weather, take the Saratoga Gap trail out and the Ridge trail back. The lower Saratoga trail is more exposed and has more difficult bits, and then you can return on the much shadier Ridge trail. The entire trip is 5.5 miles, but you shorten it at... More
