How can anyone rate this third amongst the cinemas used for the TCM Festival? Granted, the Chinese and Egyptian are more famous, but the El Capitan has something none of the others has, and that is it's "Mighty Wurlitzer" pipe organ concert before the movie. That, by itself, ranks this theatre as one of the most special in the world!... More

This theater was very comfortable and a good viewing experience. I went there as part of the TCM Film Festival so my experience with the staff and crowds might not be normal but the staff was friendly and the flow in and out of the theater were smooth. The architecture of the El Capitan was nice and the seats were... More

My friend and I went to see Peter Pan here. It was great, the theatre is beautiful and I love that they play older films here. Well worth the visit if you have some time.

This is owned by Disney and they show their movies here first. We were blown away to see a beautiful old theatre. Before the show there was an organist that popped out of the floor to play and confetti flower petals came down from the ceiling. The movie was excellent (Cinderella). Afterwards we were able to see the actual movie... More

My family and I decided to see a movie here on our recent trip. We went for the Monday evening showing. Concerned about getting in, I bought tickets ahead and got the front row of the balcony. What's funny though, we were one of 3 families in the entire theater. They still had a performance before the movie and the... More

This is a beautiful cinema (assuming you want to see a Disney movie) - charming, helpful staff, comfortable seats and a live organist to entertain you before the film starts. Shades of 'the old days'.

This movie theater is really high class. It is so beautiful and the general admission seats are really great. The organ player performance was fantastic and song selection was really wonderful and all the kids sang along! The ushers and staff are super friendly and helpful especially when you have kids with you. Extremely easy public parking and with the... More

This was one of the great movie palaces of Los Angeles--huge, elaborate fantasies created in the days when moviegoing was a theatrical experience. It was restored with the help of the late, great theater designer, Joe Musil. From the gorgeous sign to the beautiful interior, it is a feast for the eyes. The live organist performing before the movie is... More

Just seeing this historic building from outside is something but wait till you go inside. This looks like a classic movie theater and just like the Chinese Theater opposite, there is a feeling of being transported to a different time and place. Not as grand as the IMAX theater at the Chinese theater, but still quite a stunner. Like the... More

Staying in Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
