Hubby has wanted to visit the El Capitan for awhile now, but the last 2 times we've been in LA it just didn't work out. Were driving over from AZ on the weekend "The Avengers - Age of Ultron" was released, when he had the great idea of seeing it at the El Capitan. Called from the car, spoke to... More

We went on a Tuesday at noon. Like having our personal theater. Fantastic restoration and beautiful ornamentation. We watched The Avengers Age of Ultron in 3D.

It's lots of fun and would recommend if your a movie fan. It a very nice nostalgic theatre with live music. The price might be a turn off for some being about twice the price of a regular theatre, but being a one time visit we were pleased we went. It only plays one movie and if a fan then... More

Wow! I attended TCM film Festival and am just now getting around to posting some reviews. This theater was exceptional. Not a bad seat in the house. It's grand history is shining throughout and my experience was topped off by a theater organ that descends into the floor once the show begins. I've never seen anything like it! I'm so... More

How can anyone rate this third amongst the cinemas used for the TCM Festival? Granted, the Chinese and Egyptian are more famous, but the El Capitan has something none of the others has, and that is it's "Mighty Wurlitzer" pipe organ concert before the movie. That, by itself, ranks this theatre as one of the most special in the world!... More

This theater was very comfortable and a good viewing experience. I went there as part of the TCM Film Festival so my experience with the staff and crowds might not be normal but the staff was friendly and the flow in and out of the theater were smooth. The architecture of the El Capitan was nice and the seats were... More

My friend and I went to see Peter Pan here. It was great, the theatre is beautiful and I love that they play older films here. Well worth the visit if you have some time.

This is owned by Disney and they show their movies here first. We were blown away to see a beautiful old theatre. Before the show there was an organist that popped out of the floor to play and confetti flower petals came down from the ceiling. The movie was excellent (Cinderella). Afterwards we were able to see the actual movie... More

My family and I decided to see a movie here on our recent trip. We went for the Monday evening showing. Concerned about getting in, I bought tickets ahead and got the front row of the balcony. What's funny though, we were one of 3 families in the entire theater. They still had a performance before the movie and the... More

This is a beautiful cinema (assuming you want to see a Disney movie) - charming, helpful staff, comfortable seats and a live organist to entertain you before the film starts. Shades of 'the old days'.

Staying in Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
