Established in 1934, when a dozen local farmers parked their trucks on an open field (once a dairy farm) to sell fresh produce to local residents, the Market has remained true to its roots ever since. With nearly 100 dining, shopping and grocery opportunities, Farmers Market has something for everyone. More than seventy-five years later the Farmers Market remains the one stop shop for every visitor’s needs.

Our first experience was by a tour we spent and hour there for lunch, there was lots of small outlets selling Grilled Sandwiches, Chinese, Mexican Foods, Ice-creams / Drinks etc.; also postcards & magnets a plenty. Fresh Fish, Meats, Cheeses you name it, it is sold there. Two days later we came back and spent the day very enjoyable so... More

Farmer's Market hasn't changed much since the first time I visited in the mid 1960's. Souvenirs that out of the ordinary, great produce and an abundance of eating places. If you can't find something to eat that is to your liking, you aren't hungry. Visited the Grove, and it is very nice. Upscale shops and restaurants and gorgeous Holiday decorations.

We went quite early and had a look around, there are some quirky little places like the sticker shop and some great stalls with meat and vegetables. I would definately reccommend a look around and lots of nice places to eat.

Lots of food. We had breakfast at Charlies. Eggs in the omelets were not cooked all the way, but other than that it tasted great. Bought some souvenirs. Had some donuts at Bob's which tasted great. If i lived in la i would come here with a good book and read and people watch all day. This place especially popular... More

The toughest part of my visit to the Original Farmers Market was deciding what to eat! I ended up having some Cajun food from one stand and a legitimate pastrami sandwich from another, both of which were excellent. It is located right by The Grove for some excellent shopping and a cupcake from Sprinkles for dessert.

Many options for dinner: Mexican, seafood, savory crepes. And coffee, dessert and ice cream. We spent 30 minutes or so walking around The Grove then had a casual dinner here around 7ish on a Wednesday. It's outdoor and there are tables all around. Crowds were light. The shrimp tacos at Loteria were very good. A finicky teenager in our group... More

Historic farmers market selling fresh produce with numerous food stalls ranging from oysters to salt beef. I had the cream cheese and salmon bagel good value, fresh and delicious. Very popular with tourists and locals. Visit light my fire chilli shop too, what a choice!

It was good to get away from the commercialism of a lot of LA and enjoy the farmers market. Good stalls, plenty of food and drink on offer. A photographers dream as there was so much colour amongst the produce and items for sale on the stalls. We spent about 2 hours strolling and eating. It felt very relaxed and... More

The farmers have gone and so has the produce, except for one very small part. This is an interesting stroll through, what was a piece of history, and is now small eateries and an eclectic range of stores. Worth a look around lunch or tea. Easy access from Starline tour bus as well as to the Grove for more upmarket... More

We had to stop here because we heard so much about the Farmers Market and our tour group allocated about 1.5 hours here. We were a bit disappointed. Overall, it was just average in my opinion, although my group saw Jessica Alba walking around. The food that my family & group had was barely OK. Be it Chinese, barbeque, or... More
