Philip loves his subject and it shows. His enthusiasm and passion for the history of the very early years of Hollywood are catching and he brings it all to life wonderfully. As another reviewer has said it's not the usual celebs and their gardens tour but something much richer and imaginative. Well worth the time and money to get such... More

Truly wonderful tour on the rich origins of this movie making city in the location where it all happened. The tour was rife with aha moments and WSPB locations (Philip will fill you in). This is a not-to-be-missed if you are interested in more than superficial Hollywood tours and celebrity houses. A tour truly worthy of a hefty tip!

A well researched tour with excellent presentation and a charming and lively tour guide. You are unlikely to find the same level of expertise elsewhere. Would absolutely recommend to anyone interested in how Hollywood became the place it is today. It will NOT take you to the Hollywood sign, famous peoples houses or anything like that. Walk that in your... More

5 out of 5 isn't really a high enough score for this tour. This tour isn't for you if you're interested in where J-Lo lives or where Brad and Angelina party, but if you're interested in the history of Hollywood it's extraordinarily good. The best thing I can say about this tour is that I teach for a living, and... More

Not your average walking tour - for a start there isn't so much of the walking. No huge follow-the-leader scrum, and nothing humdrum. A proper learning experience - exercise for the brain and ears as much as for the eyes and feet. But what a tour. The history of Hollywood is laid out for you in a way that is... More

This was as entertaining, intelligent and insightful as any Documentary I've seen on the history of film. Felix's tour is a delight if you love films and even if you're not a film buff and simply want a fascinating introduction to Hollywood you won't be disappointed. Felix is a natural story teller and brings the history of Hollywood to life... More

The 'only' tour in Hollywood that captures the 'real' hollywood history. Stroll along Sunset Blvd with an historian whose passion for the origins of Hollywood come alive with every word as he brings you back in time to the day where it all began.

This tour took us to part of Hollywood that most tourists don't see. We learnt so much about the early sites of the industry, for movies as well as radio and music. Now I know where 'drug store cowboy' came from. Captivating story of Hollywood's past and how it evolved through to today. If you want a bit more than... More

In LA for the first time and traveling alone, naturally I thought a Hollywood tour would be appropriate, but which one!? I was overwhelmed by the choices and nothing seemed perfect until I came across The Felix In Hollywood Tour... Best choice ever!! Hollywood is very much an illusion created by the media; you expect to go there and encounter... More

Philip is not only extraordinarily knowledgable about just about every facet of Hollywood history that might interest you - he conveys what he knows with enthusiasm and delightful delivery, very much aware of the pacing of his tour. SO much better than the canned tours out there.

Staying in Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
