This tour took us to part of Hollywood that most tourists don't see. We learnt so much about the early sites of the industry, for movies as well as radio and music. Now I know where 'drug store cowboy' came from. Captivating story of Hollywood's past and how it evolved through to today. If you want a bit more than... More

In LA for the first time and traveling alone, naturally I thought a Hollywood tour would be appropriate, but which one!? I was overwhelmed by the choices and nothing seemed perfect until I came across The Felix In Hollywood Tour... Best choice ever!! Hollywood is very much an illusion created by the media; you expect to go there and encounter... More

Philip is not only extraordinarily knowledgable about just about every facet of Hollywood history that might interest you - he conveys what he knows with enthusiasm and delightful delivery, very much aware of the pacing of his tour. SO much better than the canned tours out there.

It was really a great experience. Although it's no cakewalk. You should be eager to learn something. Because Felix will open his mouth and let knowledge flow. Afterwards you won't see Hollywood and the industry as before. He connects everything with everyone. Prepare to be amazed...

My fiancé and I went on this walking tour as our first date. It was so much fun and so interesting! Phillips is knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Hollywood. His showmanship is what really made the history of the area come alive. We've raved about the tour over and over to family and friends. We still walk down... More

The usual Hollywood stuff is boring and somewhat dispiriting. Phillip "Felix" Mershon manages to make the history and culture of both Hollywood=the-place, and Hollywood-the-industry come alive and sing. In a mere 2 hours, and 1 mile we were immersed in radio, TV, the record industry, movie moguls, stars of all eras (without seeing a single sidewalk 'star' - mercifully!). We... More

Well timed, really nice guy, well conducted, delivered on everything we hoped for. Personal passion was infectious - the guide cares about his subject and our enjoyment of it. There should be more tour like this! Really painted the picture of how it used to be.

If you have a love of Hollywood history, book this easy 90-minute stroll down memory lane. Armed with his knowledge and a photo album, Philip will capture your imagination from the very first step! We had a wonderful time listening to him weave the tales of how the entertainment industry evolved. The only thing you will be sorry about is... More

Really enjoyed our short time with Phillip. He is not only a docent on all matters of Old Hollywood but also a very engaging and professional guide. He has a way of brining the past alive. Highly recommend the tour. Who knew that so much of Old Hollywood spanned only a 1/2 mile!?! Without someone like Phillip, the past would... More

Staying in Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
