Be prepared for an in depth look at how the Hollywood movie and radio studios started. You will be walking on ground zero. The tour is a classroom study, so you will listen to the guide for about 90 minutes as you walk ground zero, and then you ask your questions at the end. I found this as a drawback.... More

This is a great trip of historical Hollywood studios and theaters. If you have done other typical Hollywood tours (homes, Hollywood sign etc), this tour is a great choice to learn more about the history.

The Felix in Hollywood Tour is the greatest way to learn about the real history of Hollywood and the film, music and TV industry's development. In a town that constantly reinvents itself and rejects its history, Philip proves a perfect guide into the fascinating past. It's so cool to see the actual sites of some of the most significant developments... More

Philip loves his subject and it shows. His enthusiasm and passion for the history of the very early years of Hollywood are catching and he brings it all to life wonderfully. As another reviewer has said it's not the usual celebs and their gardens tour but something much richer and imaginative. Well worth the time and money to get such... More

Truly wonderful tour on the rich origins of this movie making city in the location where it all happened. The tour was rife with aha moments and WSPB locations (Philip will fill you in). This is a not-to-be-missed if you are interested in more than superficial Hollywood tours and celebrity houses. A tour truly worthy of a hefty tip!

A well researched tour with excellent presentation and a charming and lively tour guide. You are unlikely to find the same level of expertise elsewhere. Would absolutely recommend to anyone interested in how Hollywood became the place it is today. It will NOT take you to the Hollywood sign, famous peoples houses or anything like that. Walk that in your... More

5 out of 5 isn't really a high enough score for this tour. This tour isn't for you if you're interested in where J-Lo lives or where Brad and Angelina party, but if you're interested in the history of Hollywood it's extraordinarily good. The best thing I can say about this tour is that I teach for a living, and... More

Staying in Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
