Although not the most beautiful beach in the area, this is nice if you are looking for calmer waters and civilization nearby. Because it's not really an ocean beach per se, there aren't the ocean sounds and tides. Instead, because of its location, the only sounds I heard were of traffic down the way. we think that we saw it all until we discover a different kind of beauty and magic .. ocean and malls, old and new.. roads to walk around and small allies to cross from long beach is a different experience .. it's one that we'd want to bring with us a bunch of friends eat drink and enjoy a scenery... When we arrived it was like a ghost town nobody about, left the car in the beach car park & went on the beach after 5 mins we had to move due to teenagers swearing and been threatening just awful, got to the car & was horrified to see drug dealing with young children, could hear them on the phone... In case you were wondering, the Californian is now docked in San Diego's Maritime Museum. There isn't much to see on board although it's the only ship there with cannons.
