This is a great, challenging course for golfers of all capabilities. There are the usual ladies tees and the Red, White, Blue and LONG Black tees. Challenging.

This is a well maintained and very challenging golf course. The slope rating tell on part of the tale. If you haven't played here before then be prepared for a very humbling experience. The rough can be totally unforgiving, the wind adds an unexpected hurdle and the greens are slippery and treacherous. Bring extra balls, but don't be surprised if... More

There is more than one reason this course is nicknamed "La Piranha". I play here at least a couple of times per year and always enjoy the condition and layout of the track. Be ready, however, to play in stiff, if not outright windy, conditions. The day we played the winds were a consistent 25 mph gusting to 35. Don't... More

This course has been rated the 33rd most difficult in the U.S. by ESPN. If that is the case, I'd hate to play the top 32! Long course with only 2-3 holes I would classify as easy. Narrow fairways, rolling hills, deep difficult bunkers, it all adds up to a tough day on the course. However, it is more than... More

There are not too many golf courses in the San Luis Obispo/Santa Barbara county area, but the PGA used La Purisima a few years ago for a qualifying round. Great views with no homes in sight. Long fairways, deep bunkers and a good workout if you are walking. It's best in fall, winter and spring, and best in the morning.... More

Although we are not golfers, we do go here for lunch. Nice golf course views, good sandwiches, very casual, way better than "fast food".

Played here about 10 years ago and didn't like it much then. Stopped here again on the way from SF to LA and absolutely loved my second round. I tend to like courses in remote locations because they are cheaper and less crowded. The shot values here are excellent, not many plain jane holes here. The course is hard but... More

I have played many of the greatest golf courses in the world and La Purisima is the best. Always in perfect condition, the design is such that a golfer must place his shots in the right place off the tee to be rewarded. Review the layout before you tee off. A very friendly staff and a nice practice area. If... More

If you're doing a road trip down the coast and you play Pebble Beach two days before this and you STILL want to write a positive review, you can imagine how great this course is. We played on a particularly tough day -- wind was howling, but it was a pleasure. Pure golf course ... some beautiful holes and rolling... More

La Purisima bills itself as a very difficult course, and it's very true. I'm not sure if there was a single hole that wasn't rolling hills, including almost every fairway. However, the thing I had issues with is that there were almost no markers of any kind on the course except for the 150 yard stake. If you're going to... More
