This park, behind the Ralphs, and above the Serrano Creek Ranch Equestrian Center, houses several historic El Toro properties form early in the 20th century, and gives a great feel for what ranch life was once like in Orange County.

You can visit this small park/historic site anytime but I recommended going Wednesday-Sunday at 11 or 2.At those times they have a guide that gives a tour. Not only do you get lots of interesting historical information; you also get better access to the buildings. Without a guide there are only certain things can look at the rest is locked.

This is a collection of the original Serano's family adobe ,the original El-Toro one room school and few other structure from the early days of pre commercialized Orange County. Ideal for a Sunday morning with small kids.

This is a very small park. I would say if you are stopping in Lake Forest, you can certainly go take a look. I doubt it will be a highlight of your day. As it is in the back of a strip mall, it is easy access but not too enthralling. You can devote an hour at most. Let's face... More

The historic site shows what Orange County looked like in the early 1900's. There are a few structures and informative guides. When finished, suggest having breakfast or lunch at Bagels and Brew just in front of the entrance to this historic site.

Heritage Hill throws great seasonal events. But I go to next door Bagels and Brew, grab a coffee and stroll the beautiful park grounds. It's really peaceful in the morning. There are places to sit and just enjoy the old trees and buildings. I love old El Toro stuff.

This is a wonderful place to take the kids (and/or the dogs) and see what life was like 80 or so years ago. If you go on one of their special days there will also be demonstrations of butter churning and all sorts of other things to see and do. I highly recommend this for a look at California history.

This small park has only four buildings, but it offers a wonderful picture of the history El Toro. On view are an 1863 adobe, a one-room schoolhouse and a church from the 1890s, and a 1908 ranch house. The buildings are furnished in the style typical of their period. Docent-led tours are available. Special events include an Autumn Harvest Festival... More
