Laguna Beach has done an excellent job with caring for and maintaining all of their public beaches and park areas. Main Beach is no exception. We saw some old leathery locals here but most of them were harmless and many families were happy enjoying this beautiful beach. There are several well-used Volleyball and Basketball courts at the beach.

This is a great spot for families - sports for the older kids, teens and adults; great playground for the little ones; good beach access. There are tons of places to eat nearby. As with all locations in Laguna Beach, parking is a challenge if you don't arrive early.

Be prepared for flies, flies, flies! Very unpleasant beach - along with Monarch Beach - due to the immense amount of kelp. Piles lay strewn across the entire beach and are covered with swarms of flies. And swimming with kelp is not fun! Why doesn't the city scrap the beaches? It is an ecological problem? If so, be warned. I'd... More

Agree with previous reviewer. Very busy and not clean. Coves further along looked nicer. Newport and Huntingdon beaches much more spacious and nicer, no seaweed!

We went there on a Sunday and there was a lot of people. The beach had lots of kelps with flies flying over it.It would have been better if it was "cleaner".if you are going to Laguna Beach, don't go here.Walk further down to. Heisler Park. The coves there are cleaner and quieter .

Spent a few days in the Newport area & wanted to spend a day at a nice beach. We wanted to have everything right there, & we wanted to be able to get in the water to cool off. We asked around & read reviews -- decided on Laguna Beach. Cons-- 1) Surf is very, very rough -- everyone was... More

Great place to observe young and old having fun, but mostly the young. Very crowded but right in town and accessible to all of the restaurants and shops. The day we were there it was covered with seaweed. It often gets washed out during storms so they gave up and just built a boardwalk that is fit for that type... More

It was the 3rd beach I sauntered at in SoCal. The only negative was you have to park about 10-15 min from the Main Beach (I believe it was Laguna Canyon Road.) I loved the serenity of the beach, the waves, the cliffs. Jogging on this beach was awesome! Swimming on this beach was HALCYON! The shops on Ocean Avenue... More
