This is one of the few places in San Diego County where one can be around water and yet not be at the ocean! It's a beautiful spot to get in your 10,000 steps a day or just sit and watch your children or grandchildren run around and enjoy themselves.

Stopped by to do some bird watching while on a trip to San Diego. Good variety of wildlife, well maintained trail, and the park facilities looked very nice. If there was a down side, it was very busy even early in the morning.

Miles and miles of Hiking Trails. The Lake Trail down at Lake Murray, and the Mission Trails Regional Park trails up near Cowles Mountain. All are spectacular, beautifully maintained and have decent restroom facilities and water fountains at all locations. A Nature Museum (free and interactive) at Mission Trails (regional park is located north of Lake Murray, off of Mission... More

This is a beautiful lake to visit. There is a paved walk way around it so you can walk, run, bike, or skate. Boating on the lake too.

I belong to a non-profit by the name of Generations On The Move, every year we hold a walk-a-thon to raise funds for scholarships. This was the first time i had ever been to this park and we (family & I) absolutely loved it. Very quiet, and full of nature, absolutely beautiful.

The trail is stroller/kid/bike friendly. There is a place to rent bikes, kayaks, etc. There is something to do for the whole family.

Lake Murray Reservoir is park of the larger Mission Trails Regional Park. This is the favorite place in the area for those that like to walk. The path along the lake is wide, the scenery beautiful and the other walkers well behaved. Picnic tables are provided as well as several port-a-potties along the path. The lake also has a concession... More

We went on mothers days because the beaches were crowded. So we still got a peaceful spot right on the lake. You can rent paddle boats, buy fishing license, convenience food. Picnic areas with grill. I have also jogged/ran here a few times, great place to exercise. Great for families and elders.

Early morning or late afternoon makes this 6 mile round trip walk just relaxing and calming. There is a nice breeze off the lake and shade here and there to make it more comfortable.

A busy place for people on the move. You can definitely go at your own speed, lots of super nice people there. Good location and plenty of parking.
