Pretty amazing to see a sailplane winched into the ridge winds that hit Torrey Pines and then gain altitude. One of the few places that this can be done and a sight to behold. Other less sophisticated aircraft are using the ridge lift as well and it is fun to watch all of them.

Stop here for incredible views, but also book glider experiences in advance. Newbies get to go tandem with an experienced flyer and you'll have a great experience!

Beautiful spot to hang out, enjoy the beautiful weather, views and if the winds are favorable, watch hang gliders and para sailers launch, fly and land on the small grass airstrip. Parking is plentiful, there's some nice hiking trails and a small snackbar with a variety of sandwiches and drinks. There's no cost for entrance, so it's a bargain place... More

My brother, who lives near there, brought me to the Gliderport to check out the scenery and grab a quick lunch at the little shack there. What a wonderful, relaxing way to experience the area (and the sandwich was great too). The cliffs are gorgeous and you can really get a feel for the beauty and the quirkiness of the... More

Set on the cliffs overlooking the ocean, enjoy watching the numerous dare devils that launch and fly so peaceful on the wind currents. It is a great place to watch later in the day with sunset views.

The day we arrived in San Diego, my wife and I drove up US 1 and started in LaJolla. I took her to the Gliderport because I knew she wasn't going to believe it when she saw it. When we were at La Jolla Cove, she could see the gliders and thought it was pretty from way farther south. When... More

Don't want to fly? Afraid of heights? Go there and watch the sunset and all glides around. Down to the cliff, you will see Black's Beach.

I owe my wife a Glider tandem, but this wasn't the day for it because the winds were a bit off. Still, the beauty of this place is amazing, with the golf course on your right, the glider port in front, and hiking trails down to the beach on your left. Couldn't do it all, but there's always another day.

I am still trying to get up my nerve to paraglide, but enjoyed the experience as a spectator immensely. We went on a day with plenty of wind and plenty of participants. There is a wonderful peace watching the gliders soar and dip up and down the ocean cliffs. Got some fabulous photos. Also ventured into La Jolla to snap... More
