I know people that are both alumni and employees at UCSD ... it is a great school and the large green areas and proximity to the ocean are amazing ... fantastic.
The University California, San Diego is one of the world's leading public research universities, located in beautiful La Jolla, California. It was my Alma mater in early '70s, afeter my medical school. great teaching, great science then and now give a look at the beautiful Geisel Library
While attending a conference here we had to walk around this lovely campus. It is so green and inviting. The students were very helpful in directing us to the fascinating buildings and artwork. The Geisel library is a must see for everyone of us in any Seuss generation.
My wife and I strolled the campus on a Friday afternoon and found it most enjoyable. There was live music and several student groups barbecuing to raise money. The sites and sounds provided a wonderful backdrop for a leisurely walk.
I went to SDSU but a friend of mine studied at UCSD so I decided to go there once to see the campus. It was totally worth it! In general Californian university campuses are more impressive than other ones so this one is a great example why. It is really large and got some nice buildings like the unusual building... More
One the great University's. The layout and building are worth the trip. Blacks beach is near by. The liabrary is a must see. The arts are top notch and a must see.
There are 18 outdoor nationally acclaimed art pieces that dot the campus which you download a map for locations. Don't miss "Fallen Star", the cottage on top of the engineering bldg. Amazing! Also, the huge teddy bear is a must see. All free and a nice family activity.
We happened to be staying right next to the campus, and I like universities, so we took a couple hours to stroll around. It was a nice campus, no question, and we certainly had a pleasant walk and enjoyed looking at the interesting buildings, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.
Reading all those nice reviews about the campus and staying in the neighborhood we did decide to visit on a Saturday morning. We did start at the visitor centre, the lady was not very kind, but she gave us a map. We did not need a parking parmit on Saturday. Lovely campus. A missed chance is to mark the Art... More
The campus is very large, and you are sure to get lost. There are many buildings of architectural merit. It's worth going just to see the Geisel (Dr. Seuss's real name) Library, named after him. It's very hilly and on the ocean. It's in or next to La Jolla and ought to be part of anyone's visit to La Jolla.
