Don't expect to find Southern California beaches in Lake Tahoe. If that is your goal then you should go to elsewhere. But we have young children so the goal is enough simple diversions and Kings Beach met our requirements. First, the cold hard reality: they charge you $10 to park and there is another beach closer to town that is... More

Whenever we stay in Tahoe City, we drive up to Kings Beach. It is SO beautiful...the clear, blue water surrounded by alpine mountains, the soft, sandy beach, the picnic areas. The surrounding community is a little dumpy but we don't feel unsafe and there are cute stores around too. Sometimes it's pretty windy...but that's what you get at many beaches.... More

This lake is sooo cold! However, I love the beach here, but not much to do in the winter except dip your feet into the icy water. Oh, there is also the gorgeous view of the lake and surrounding mountains. And like the rest of Tahoe, plenty of photo backdrops.

No matter how many people are out enjoying the sun or the water, it is worth a walk on this beach. iT's well maintained. I know it says no dogs, but many people ignore that and the dogs are always having fun too.

Kings Beach State Park is perfect for kayaking, paddle boards, swimming or picnics. Rocks off shore are intriguing. Restaurants, playground nearby.

The centerpiece of Kings Beach is this delightful area in the center of town. If the large fee-required parking lot fills up it is relatively easy to find roadside parking throughout nearby neighborhoods. There is a pier, a boat launching ramp, plenty of clean sand to spread a blanket on, a watersports concession with boat ,kayak, paddle boards, and wave runner... More

Sandy and shallow for kids, there was an arts festival going on that we couldn't go to .. Very close to the state border. Better than the San harbor beach which was more pebbly

It was Sept. 2, Labor Day and we arrived there for sunrise around 6:30 a.m.. The beach was immaculate. The wind was lightly blowing so that the waves caused noise that sounded like the ocean. Really nice. Dogs are allowed on leash and the people are super friendly. The bathrooms are clean and well stocked with regular amenities with soap... More

We didn't visit long but the beach was beautiful and well taken care of. There is a fee for parking unless you can find additional parking somewhere else and walk the distance. Very nice facilities for restrooms. (For those concerned with the fires: There was a little smoke smell in the air but the wind kept most of the smoke... More
